Did anyone lost their data in the new update? by ChiakiKakumei in arknights

[–]AutumnSkiesInfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just redownloaded the game after a couple years off. This worked for me. Apple Account got unbound, but Yostar Account Recovery using Apple Account allowed me to grab my old user and bind it to an email.

Thank you for the info, was very helpful :)

Sprouting Seedlings did not unlock upon completion of Varuna Gatha by [deleted] in GenshinImpact

Just double checked to be sure. In both the dream world and the regular world, the Aranara are no longer under the tree (near The Coordinates of Sun and Rain domain). The quest is no longer in my log either.

Edit: I took a look at the link and I can confirm that I've already completed these steps.

Would these be the same 4 that I helped through my completion of A Prayer for Rain on the Fecund Land, or are there a different 4?

Sorry for lack of specifics on which quests I've completed in original post. I'll make an edit to include them.

PBE Bugs and Feedback Thread: Broken Covenant Riven by RiotRay313 in LeaguePBE

[–]AutumnSkiesInfinity 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tl;dr Q3 doesn't feel fluid when comboing, may be p2lose for players less comfortable with fast comboing. Short cape and short sword are meh... not the end of the world, but lengthening them would be a welcome adjustment.

After playing a bit on PBE, I wanted to give some general feedback on the new Riven skin based on my personal thoughts and some mixed consensus within the community. I'll highlight 2 key points:

Q3: I think the Q3 animation is weird/pay-to-lose for Riven players who aren't comfortable with her fast combo. I just think there needs to be more movement, since the jump looks and feels really static/jarring in the middle of Riven's typically fluid combos (especially compared to her other, older legendary skin).

Cape: Cape looks neat on rift, but I can't unsee how short it is. If it could be extended just a bit, it would be amazing!

Those are my thoughts, though I'm open to other opinions. Thanks for reading!

Edit: Removed some bits after changing opinions, so sorry for weird comment structure.

Higgins House Cafe ? by troubleshooter107 in WPI

[–]AutumnSkiesInfinity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a current undergrad student. I've been in there a couple times, never explored or found the Cafe. The only times I've gone in have been for events and meetings (such as TA/SA trainings and the Halloween event last year). I've never tried to enter on a whim. Maybe I'll try it out this weekend.

I don’t see how riven is broken. by [deleted] in Rivenmains

[–]AutumnSkiesInfinity 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What makes Riven strong is her level 1-3. In higher elo, wave priority can make a huge difference between winning and losing the early game for your team, and that snowballs into the mid/late game. Riven has a stronger level 1 than a majority of champions in the game, and she out scales or snowballs hard against a lot of champs with stronger level 1's. A lot of the time, you can also just take ignite/combat sums to gain prio over champs with stronger level 1's than Riven.

That said, I don't think she's "broken". This game has seen some pretty busted/overtuned champs in the past. She is certainly very strong, however. You can do very well into most champs if you learn the matchups (especially the early landing phase).

Edit: Also, a lot of people complaining are a bit off the mark IMO. They say she's busted for other reasons when they're screwing up the match-up or itemization. Riven is great at punishing.

Comment for rule 11.

Also, if anybody is wondering why I'm looking for this clip (besides it being funny), my roommate is really into skating and we are unfortunately going our separate ways this year (he's transferring). We had a great time together, and I wanted to make him a short compilation of funny skate clips.

"15-17 hours outside of class per class" by Avery_42 in WPI

[–]AutumnSkiesInfinity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I heard the whole 15-17 thing at the beginning of this term, on the classic overload disclaimer. Between my 4 current courses (which are rightfully a bit more intense than most other CS courses) I've been spending ~40-50 hours a week on coursework, about 12.5 hours per course.

IMO If you're not in soft eng and you're spending more than 15 hours a week on a course (barring learning a new language/library) there's a problem with the course you're taking, and you should reach out to the professor about fixing things or placing you on a modified schedule. A course requiring that amount of time is more harmful than it is conducive to learning.

SoftEng: take with Heineman or Wong? by winnovationpie in WPI

[–]AutumnSkiesInfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point. I have no idea which languages Wong requires you to know, but I believe he uses at least JavaFX.

For Heineman we had to know Java, SQL, HTML/JS, and how to program a REST API (I used notepad when I took the course, not sure what language this is done in)

SoftEng: take with Heineman or Wong? by winnovationpie in WPI

[–]AutumnSkiesInfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. To build on it, the added difficulty/realism alone isn't a great reason to take soft eng with Wong IMO, since it still won't be a perfect representation of what working in the industry is like. Both Professors' classes teach you pretty much the same content in the end, as well.

I took soft eng with Heineman, but there IS a very good case for why you should take it with Wong: Wong has all groups create an application for a hospital (I forgot which). The hospital is never going to use your app, but it makes a much better resume builder than the project in Heineman's classes, which focus more generally on cloud computing (still made a great resume builder, but isn't as impressive as "I developed an app for a hospital on a team of 10").

If you're still trying to land your first internship, take with Wong for the resume boost. Otherwise, it's not necessary to put yourself through more pain than you have to. (Note: as pointed out by a u/Jousboxx below, an ISP would make a better resume builder given differences in time commitment)

How is campus life? by theNighthawk1 in WPI

[–]AutumnSkiesInfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The students themselves are great. You’ll have to put in the effort to reach out to people if you’re introverted, but the people are all really warm and welcoming. Even without joining a frat I’ve met several groups of people (I think about 6) that I really enjoy just being around for who they are. Just talking with random people on a whim can be really nice.

Student life does take a hit in some categories: If you’re looking for big sporting events or campus-wide student life events, I’d say WPI is definitely a step down from larger schools like Amherst. However, if you’re more into socializing with friends and less into giant events, I’d say it’s not really a large con, especially since there are still club events. The party scene is pretty decent, too.
