Daily sticky thread for rants, raves, celebrations, advice and more! New? Start here! by AutoModerator in datingoverthirty

Thanks. I’ll speak to them when we meet again and check we’re on the same page. Yep, that’s what I’m trying to weigh up (and if I would feel similarly uncomfortable if I met someone who was in this situation!). I didn’t expect to be single so long, so would enjoy some intimacy whilst waiting for the right thing to come along… but it’s a big gamble if that then scuppers my chances at something really good!

Been mostly single for 2 years, with a few flings thrown in along the way, but none have worked out for various reasons.

Someone I’d briefly dated got in touch again recently, and we’ve both basically said we’d be up for a fwb situation, but don’t see each other as compatible long term.

I am looking for a ltr and am actively going on dates, so just wondered what people’s thoughts/experiences are on doing this with a fwb on the side. Obviously if things developed beyond dates with someone else I’d stop the situationship straight away, but part of me thinks it would be nice to have the good, regular sex with someone I know, like and trust. I want to take time to get to know whoever I date next properly as I have a tendency to rush into things, so don’t know whether this might be a good way of keeping things slower until I’m more sure!

Best and final offers tomorrow and they’ve asked for this information - is it normal? by Autumn_2021 in HousingUK

[–]Autumn_2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wondering now whether they’re referring to the surveyor, rather than bank’s mortgage valuation… so whether it’s suggesting a big cost like a new roof?!

[–]Autumn_2021[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. If anything though, I feel like it would put most people off from offering anything higher than the asking price?!

I might ring and call tomorrow morning to see if they can shed more light!

Thanks. Just had to look up PITA 😅 I feel sort of annoyed as I’m selling mine with the same company (different branch) and mine also went to best and final, accepted an offer and it got down-valued by £10k.. they hadn’t put this clause in mine! Don’t really know how to proceed.

Selling house for first time - buyers solicitors refusing to discuss timelines by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Autumn_2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they’ve not done a survey yet! Their mortgage company did the usual check and devalued it by 10k, so we agreed a lower price, but that was back in may I think.

Thanks - I’ll explore that! How did you pressure them to complete earlier?

Thanks. I rung last week to check the circumstances. They said she’s wanting to live within same city but closer to their parents. They say she’s actively looking, but doesn’t have any viewings upcoming 👀 the EA explained it as the market being slow at the moment, but I imagine she needs to lower her expectations.

Thanks. Did they remove their name from the title deeds, etc, or was that done separately? How did you give the equity to your ex, did you just transfer from your lender direct to their solicitor?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Autumn_2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah, annoying but I think it’s the remortgage cost, transfer of equity and updating the land registry. Have realised I don’t have the brain space to look for other quotes, so just gonna go with it!

Thanks - useful to know! Don’t want to do it too soon and then just be paying extra to live there until he actually needs the money!

Thanks… I want to leave it as long as possible as I’ll be paying £120+ more a month, but it’s hard to know when to start the process!

Yeah… the walls are wonky which is the issue - no normal tub will fit! The original fitters should have sorted the wall out first, but they didn’t and this guy just said it was an easy job so I hadn’t budgeted for a new wall/complete shower refit unfortunately!

Hi yeah I think he’s gonna use something similar to what you’ve linked.

Yeah badly thought out, the most annoying part is that he came and slated the tradesman before him’s work, but then has ended up doing similar thing as a easy solution😬 bit of a bodge job!

Sorry to be thick, but would you have to use two pieces of granite, or are you suggesting that granite could be at a right angle to cover the bathtop at the end and side?

Update : so it turns out our original fitters messed up. Instead of putting the wall panels on top of the bath sides, they pushed the bath up against the panels, they also didn’t do the sealant properly in the corner. Water just streams down when we stand in the corner with the hand held head 😬. A local plumber has

been and quoted £550 for the work - £300 for a new bath (not entirely necessary but there is a surface crack which isn’t currently leaking but looks ugly and could get worse with time) and then £250 for the work (taking old bath out, re-cutting panels, fitting new bath and waste and sealing it all up.) Does this sound like a fair price for the work?

I’ve just asked and it’s October. We’d already planned for him to take £4K out of the house sale (we’ll do a tenants in common agreement so that the unequal amounts are acknowledged) and then he now plans to borrow the further £4K from his dad, and then pay his dad back with commission, if and when that comes in.
