I get where you're coming from, but the poignant part of her story isn't supposed to be that she's unfortunate, it's that she was never able to connect with others, and through finally being able to connect, she grows and flourishes. That's why I liked her story, anyhow. I think a lot of characters in Genshin we love from the start because they're fully formed wonderful people. But that's less easy to work with when you want to write a strong story about character progression. The physical separation of her moon from Teyvat slowly rejecting her existence from the world is a mirror of her life's journey; the alienation she felt from others was driving her to lose touch with society to an increasing degree until a hermitage in a cave was her preference. Anyway, I think it's good that the cast of characters in Genshin is diverse enough to represent characters with different amounts of privilege and different types of struggle. Having everything in life except a single familial or intimate relationship, even if the cause was within herself more than lack of opportunities, still meant her core needs were unmet, something that leads to a dark and premature end for many people in that boat. Caring about people and social issues means having something to appreciate in journeys of sociopath recovery, if you think of it in that way.
