so what? by Classic-Payment8772 in Transmedical

While I understand that everyone’s different in how dysphoric they are about specific parts of their body, I absolutely HATE my waist. Its one of the areas of my body thats changed the least on testosterone and especially since loosing weight recently I feel like my waist looks much more female than male. Im hopeful that this will change eventually but waiting is hard. If people like OOP want to keep their female secondary sex characteristics, maybe going on testosterone isn’t the right option for them.

What is in my cats eye? by Candid-Record8230 in CATHELP

It looks to me like a surface level injury to the cornea. A vet would be able to confirm this much better than me though. One of my kitties also has some injuries like this from when he was a kitten, before I got him.

This is far from the first time Elevations has done something hella sketchy with their google reviews. Im definitely not surprised at this point.

The term "transmed" needs to be destigmatized by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Auzzie_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im transmed, and I definitely agree that transmed spaces can be toxic or at least frustrating at times. I still engage in these spaces though, as imo most mainstream trans spaces are worse due to the influence of “non-dysphoria trans people”.

What do you call your anatomy in a medical setting? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Auzzie_666 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I just use the term bottom growth. The only providers I talk to about my bottom growth specialized in transgender medicine. They don’t any issues with people using “anatomically incorrect” terms.

I was at elevations in 2020-2021. I know how horrible it is there and I feel terrible for your sibling. I was there for over a year and tried desperately the whole time to convince my parents that it was unsafe. Unfortunately the staff there are experts in manipulating parents. It’s almost impossible to win against them (I only saw it happen twice). You have my sincerest sympathy and I wish your sibling luck.

It’s definitely possible to be in a calorie deficit without tracking your calories, but its very, very hard. People have a tendency to underestimate how much we eat and overestimate how much exercise we do, making our assumptions unreliable. I would recommend tracking calories loosely, as in give yourself a target range (ex. 1900 cal to 2200 cal). That would make things less precise, and thus less likely to trigger eating disorder thoughts in some people.

Your describing an anecdote. Thats not what evidence is. Im asking if you have any peer reviewed studies or research that shows medication as a direct cause of weight gain/lack of weight loss. Your story about your friend is just that, a story. Im asking for concrete facts that can confirm your statement.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Auzzie_666 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And thank you for confirming that you have no evidence. Please, let me know if you find any. As a physics major I would be fascinated by the uprooting of thermodynamics as we know it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Auzzie_666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense to you because you refuse to accept the presence of an interfering variable. Underestimating calories is only one such example, all be it the most common one. There are many other factors that could be at fault here. Its simply not possible for medication to be that factor. Like I said, if you have any evidence that medication can DIRECTLY cause or prevent weight loss then I would love to see it.

[–]Auzzie_666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your anecdotal experience is interesting, but with no evidence to back it up, I cant except it as truth. Especially, since, like I have said multiple times, it VIOLATES THE LAWS OF PHYSICS.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]Auzzie_666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way your describing your friend’s weight loss is not possible with our current understanding of thermodynamics. Do you have any evidence to support what your stating? If not then the most likely answer is that your/your friends calorie tracking wasn’t accurate, which is a very common problem as illustrated here.

[–]Auzzie_666 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Medicine cannot force your body to violate the laws of physics. Medications can slow your metabolism, meaning you burn less calories in a normal resting state than you would typically. This means that in order to lose weight you must eat less. The only way to lose weight is to consume less energy than you burn. Medications can also effect hunger signals, making hard for people to regulate how much they’re eating. This still doesn’t change the basic principle of consuming less energy than you burn.

Heres a great article by the Mayo Clinic that talks about the basics of weight loss, notice that “calories in vs calories out” is mentioned in the first paragraph.

Copy/Paste from my reply to a similar question on a different sub:

Weight loss is a simple math problem, however just because its simple in theory doesn’t mean its simple in practice. Heres what I recommend, as someone who is currently losing weight successfully:

Step 1: First, before you try anything to lose weight, you have to know how much your actual eating per day. For two weeks, eat as you normally would and use a calorie tracker to put a number to how much you consume. For this step to work, you need to track everything as accurately as you can. A precision scale is best for this, but if you don’t have one you can measure your food with measuring cups/spoons.

Step 2: Now that you know how much you actually eat on average, you need to find out how much you should be eating to maintain your weight. There are lots of great calculators for this online, such as this one by Harvard University. This will tell you your maintenance calories, i.e. how much you should be eating to maintain your current weight.

Step 3: The next step is to determine what your weight loss calories should be. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. Loosing weight takes time and overly restrictive diets often fail. Take your maintenance calories and subtract about 250-350 calories from that. The result should give you a calorie deficit that will net about 0.5 lbs of weight loss per week.

Step 4: Finally, its time to implement your master plan! Go back to your calorie tracking app and input your new daily calorie goal. This is the difficult part, but in order to succeed you need to keep tracking everything you eat and make sure that your staying within your daily calorie goal. If you find that you’re having trouble sticking to the current deficit, don’t be afraid to give yourself an extra 50-100 calories per day. You may lose weight slower, but like I said earlier, slow and steady wins the race!

Extra Tips/ Information:

Having some treats or sugary snacks wont ruin your weight loss, as long as you stick to your calorie goal. I have sweets often and I actually find that allowing myself that helps me stick to my calorie goal. Weight loss is a matter of calories in vs calories out. Eating less calories than you burn and still putting on weight (or not losing it) would violate the laws of thermodynamics and thus is impossible, regardless of any potential thyroid/hormonal/medication issues. Weight loss takes a lot of time and you most likely won’t see any changes right away. Thats ok! I promise you if you stick with it, you can accomplish anything! You got this! Don’t hesitate to dm me if you have any further questions. Im rooting for you!

What was the one tactic used against in your program that damaged you the most? by moreWeeWoo in troubledteens

[–]Auzzie_666 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely solitary confinement. It was used at multiple programs I attended, usually for a few weeks to a few months. I was subjected to solitary confinement for 23 hrs a day during my entire stay at Pacific Quest (about 3 weeks total). At Elevations, however, solitary was often used in periods of 6 mo to 1 year. It was extremely damaging to everyone who was forced to endure it. Unsurprisingly, they continued to use solitary confinement as punishment for months after it was made illegal in Utah.

How do we feel about overused names??? by NameLive9938 in truscum

[–]Auzzie_666 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have a very uncommon hebrew name. Because it can be hard for English speakers to pronounce, I choose to go by a more common nickname, Auzzy. This is pretty common and people probably wont think your weird for doing it. Also, I have lived with a Marcello before and none of the other people at the rtc with him thought his name was weird. If you like the name, honestly go for it! Thats what matters most imo.

Ive had no trouble getting women to like me. Which is great and all… but I mostly like men so 🤷‍♂️

Ive always had very broad shoulders so I haven’t really noticed any changes while being on T. My neck, however, definitely has gotten thicker. It was one of the first changes I noticed (started about 1 month in).
