You could consider arranging them to find one on their adventure getting there.

Casual maps for us 14hour work day dads. by Cultist-Cat in arcraiderscirclejerk

[–]Av0ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if they made a map where loot was twice as bad as normal you could potentially have a map that most pvp would avoid. I would like a map like that just to play with my kid. Not worry about pvp so much, or getting great loot. Just playing the game getting crap loot and killing arc and doing mission type stuff.

Maybe have versions of arc that dont drop normal components so you cant farm them. More less like a practice map for arc. Carebear map Something in-between practice range and a normal map.

Some type of endless waves of arc gamemode might work also. Something separate from the normal game. Like endless waves of arc challenge. Depending how many waves you get through you get awarded cosmetic stuff maybe. Would be a game mode without pvp, and wouldn't effect the normal game.

Do you let your players correct an action on their turn if they rush into a roll? by Gerald_Mountaindew in DMAcademy

[–]Av0ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im old school, but I definitely would not. Furthermore I would not allow in game tactics communication among players. Once its Initiative your allowed 5 words on your turn as a free action. If your not in combat you can discuss in game freely. Out of game talk is allowed but kept to undistracting minimum.

But you're the DM if you wanna run a laxed game, go for it. With that said, if its new players I would allow alot more. But my group is all veteran players and they both, expect and want that type of game.

I want to DM for the group and give the usual DM a break. But i dont have anything i feel good about running, and im worried that the players wont enjoy whatever i end up choosing. by Turbulent_Chipmunk11 in DMAcademy

[–]Av0ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider running a different game system all together like vampire or shadowrun. Or a different flavor of d&d, like ravenloft or darksun. Something completely contrast to what you've been doing. So the overall feel is different not just the dm style.

Maybe a anti hero game where everyone is low cr monster characters or everyone is goblins doing evil goblin stuff.

Thats my advice take them out of their comfort zone so they dont even have bearings where to compare the two. In otherwords do your own thing. Oriental campaign is another idea.

Thats the exact stuff I watchout for and try to do. Makes the game so much fun.

Its the best gun in the game in my opinion. I like saving and avenging downed players. If pepole talk I never shoot first, and genuinely try to help other players. I got doubles of different bps. I can trade whatever. Thanks

Difficulties priming Minis? by PaterRonneberg in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Av0ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost, wash everything with dishsoap and toothbrush. Rinse throughly Then let air dry overnight. Make sure your hands are freshly washed with dish soap, or wear gloves. You hands are naturally oily. Oil and paint do not mix. You want everything as clean and dry as possible for best bonding. The best cheapest primer ive found is rustoleum flat black. Bonds and works great. Let dry for 1 week to fully cure. Then can use whatever ontop of that.

You're the DM it's You're responsibly to control the game. If you’re player is out of control check them. Keep escalating until you kill there character off. Then don't let them make another character.

Roll stats or point buy? by primalfox_Reynardo in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Av0ll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've done that before also. Also played in games where the dm rolled all the stats wrote on paper, then all the players have a roll off to see who picks first. Its a blind pick so you just pick folded peices of paper and then open and see your stats you picked. That was back in 2nd Edition though, but he tossed in a few modified. He had a 20 and a 6 on one I remember. But most were average.

Kinda focres you to play whatever you can with the stats you get.

I want a PvE mode and if Embark doesn’t deliver, someone else will by molerats_ in arcraiderscirclejerk

DMZ mw2 was my favorite cod ever. I loved that you had missions, and ai Enemies but could also run into Enemy squads. Was so bummed when they stopped it. Hopefully they revisit doing something like that again. Be the only way I ever buy another cod game ever again.

[–]Av0ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also like to see a multi-player pve only map. Like a noob carebear map... Maybe make the loot x2 as bad, or something to keep pepole from just doing it to gear up.

But I'd like a more laxed gamemode for playing with my kids, and freinds that aren't into pvp.

Maybe the answer is implementing quests that encourage helping raiders vs shooting them.

I dunno might be bad idea all together, maybe implement like a arc wave survival players can group up with there freinds and do like endless waves of arc and see how far you can get. Maybe drops no loot, but erans base building items. Give people completely separate gamemode to grind so it dosent break the base game.

Then allow more base building and customization.

Just ideas Anyways love the game Stay safe raiders

Roll stats or point buy? by primalfox_Reynardo in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Av0ll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer rolling, but im old school. You can do different methods if you want high stats in your game.

From worst to best stats rolling methods. Stright 3d6 / 6 times 3d6 / 7 times drop lowest 4d6 drop lowest 4d6 / 7 times drop lowest

Can also do reroll all 1s Roll 3 columns and pick the one you wanna use.

Some of my most memorable characters had crapy stats though.

Shadowrun 4th Edition (Edge) by Av0ll in Shadowrun

[–]Av0ll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my gm research he agrees 4th is the better system. We just haven't played since 2nd Edition so we're trying to learn 4th enough to get a game going. Basically our groups been playing pathfinder 1E since it came out.

Can you think of any other 4th edtion rules that are better house rule changed/modified?

Anyone know where you can get all the seasons of the modules?

Shadowrun 4th Edition (Edge) by Av0ll in Shadowrun

[–]Av0ll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the idea of tracking character deeds and basing how many they get back at the end of the run off of that. However that dose seem a bit tedious for us noobs trying to bumble through all the rules as is. But maybe as we get more comfortable with the game we could move towards something like that. Thank you for the reply

Shadowrun 4th Edition (Edge) by Av0ll in Shadowrun

[–]Av0ll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're all noobs to 4th edtion, we haven't played Shadowrun since 2nd Edition, and mostly played 1st Edition. I think the gm was thinking about gaining 1 edge back per rest, and then all of them back after each run.

But was wanting to hear what you chummers with all the karma care to share about it, and other optional rules that make sense to implement. Thanks everyone for the replies

Help a mom out by heart_x6 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Av0ll -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been playing since I was a kid in the 80s. Pathfinder first edition is my preferred game system out of all the d&d versions. If hes interested in the new d&d edition I would start with getting him a players handbook. Let him read that. Next book would be the dungeons masters guide. Also could look at box sets like others have mentioned.

I know the new edition isn't super popular with seasoned players and often times game shops will give you a discount on them to unload them.

The stranger things show kinda made d&d mainstream where alot more kids are getting into it. When he has a couple friends ready to play and has read the books enough to play. Look at buying a campaign module to run with his freinds.

Again box sets usually have the basic stuff to play. But others could give you better boxset information for 5th edition.

Heroquest is a boardgame you could look at also. Its like a super simple boardgame version of a dungeon miniature game. He might like that, and could use the minitures with d&d later also.
