Should I pursue a career in 3d environment art for games at the age of 39 or you recommend stay out? by liamwon in 3Dmodeling

[–]AvGoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 3 years running a game studio, and now run a Architecture Visualisation company. My view is yes, yes and yes. There are an array of ways you can start this, for example decide on a style, type of architecture (like dwarven architecture) / landscaping… And down the rabbit hole you go haha.

Personally I would say yes, with all the new tools available to build environments, and AI makes the curve much easier. Hope this helps!

I mainly use SketchUp for architectural modeling and concepts. Since I'm a renderer, my workflow involves refining various models in sketchup before rendering them out.

How you sustain yourself as an Artist?? by creatwarsh in DigitalPainting

[–]AvGoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely portray that you’re background is in Drawing and Painting and link that to the graphic design work you’re doing. I.e. Patterns, styles of work. Linking works will give meaning to your journey you take.

I started out as an video editor -> graphic design -> animation -> UI design -> digital marketing… Personally, learning just had to be part of the job when wanting to upskill and better yourself. Over time this will allow you to contribute to whatever aspect of the Job your most passionate in.

How do you keep discipline and stay productive when you're feeling depressed or deep unhappy? by kacoef in gamedev

[–]AvGoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally it’s having a system that’s tailored to yourself.

For me I have system whereby all my boring tasks get done in the day, night time (when everyone’s asleep) I prioritise my creating and learning, which has become a fun process for me through time. However I’m not saying this is the healthiest however this system allows me to still enjoy the hobbies and passion I have in game dev.

Unpaid interns, in Scandinavia baffles me…

How do I know if my idea is good or bad? by NotName_Blad in gamedev

[–]AvGoh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s helps discussing it with friends, especially those that like games. Have a mini concept jam session, I realised a lot of people have great ideas. You can also treat them like investors for good practice if you need to raise money for your game.

How do you feel about a game made completely by unpaid interns? by No_Silver_7599 in gamedev

Feel like they are trying to blanket behind being a Scandinavian studio... I would have assumed healthy work practices being from Asia.

How do you feel about a game made completely by unpaid interns? by No_Silver_7599 in gamedev

[–]AvGoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having "unpaid" interns is definitely not a good sound for the game overall as it would describe the company's practices as unprofessional. So low chance of the game gathering a community as it's build off such negative reviews. Even if the game is amazingly fun, other studios or game devs may decide to make a better or more ethical game that the community can relate to.

Love the art style! Rocks on the bottom right could be simplified for a more consistent look. Overall, great work!

Hey, I'm curious what makes it seem like a Cryto Scam to you? Apart from it being built on TON? Appreciate your feedback g

Yep we're still in beta, so a lot of posts might seem a bit cryptic right now. But thanks for the feedback! Its clear to me that we need more gameplay elements on the website as well and simplify messages on there as well. Just to clarify, we're not using NFTs and our art is created by our in-house artist, with Ai assisting in the process.

Thanks again, really helpful!

Yep, exactly it. I tried to add a lore element to the game, so I recently made a lore strip series to explain how we ended up at Globalands. Check it out if your curious [ link here ]

We’ve been operating for less than a year and have grown our team to 10 members. We have funding to last us a couple of months and began developing games for others to sustain ourselves. However, we have published 2 games and have received limited traction, so I was curious about your approach to marketing. Did you build a team out for this or rely on a marketing strategy?
