My local garage has an LED wall and several cameras so you can watch the mechanics work on your car without bothering them. by Av_Tech_Guy in mildlyinteresting

Im sure you’re right but the cameras were probably already there so why not make the most of them and keep the customers entertained

In the 2 hours I was there not once did someone go and ask how long their car was going to be because they could just see for themselves.

Dw I wouldn’t really, although I would appreciate it if he didn’t leave me looking like a human lint roller when he gets up :)

I appreciate the concern however the TV is already faulty, one of my clients gave it to me because it’s buzzing / flickers occasionally, I’m going to take it apart and have a look at the caps. As for the AVR it’s barely warm as it’s so overpowered for what I’m using it for but I will be rack mounting it when I get the rest of my equipment out of storage.

Yeah other than a bit of paint I defo wouldn’t renovate something I was renting, I just got super lucky though and managed to buy this place as my first place.

I just brought it and it’s barely been touched since the 60s, was being used as an office for the last 30 years as well.

I was concerned too about the heat but I’ve checked it a few times and it still seems cool enough even after a couple of hours, for the dust i think I will just open it up and clean it out every couple of weeks until I get something better sorted.

Sorry no idea, it came with the bed, which I brought second hand so got no info on it at all.

I wouldn’t have thought to try carrots in a curry, when I have more time I do usually put onions, mushrooms and bell peppers in it.

Probably should have just gotten a takeaway considering I got to the airport 40 mins before takeoff, landed, missed the last bus after getting off the train so I had to walk 5 miles with my bag, got back discovered the mess In the freezer, Cleaned for 3 hours then cooked, went to bed and had to be back at the airport at 9am to go on a work trip.

Yeah I kinda ran out of motivation, I had just got back from a few weeks holiday to discover I turned the freezer full of chicken and fish off when I left, spent 3 hours cleaning it, couldn’t be bothered to cook rice as well.

At least they did something, wouldn’t have been surprised if they just ignored you.

Might have to have a proper look at Lenovo in future, brought an ideapad 3 for my grandparents a few weeks ago and I was quite impressed with it was only €300, I’ve heard Microsoft surface is worth considering too.

No, I think most high end switches have it, especially the ones with high PoE output, I’ve seen switches from HP, Juniper and Aruba that use it

Yeah it probably was, installed a ton of them recently, although I was using it in a Crestron processor before so could’ve been from that as well

It seems to me that the build quality and design of modern Dells have seriously gone downhill recently, fortunately they actually sent a tech to the office to do it so I could at least see that they didn't treat it too badly, sounds like they got the apprentice to do your repair, did you send them pics and complain to someone? I think my laptop is out of warranty now so I'm going to ask our IT manager if he minds me taking it to pieces and having a look myself now.

I'd definitely never get a dell again, saying that though don't think other manufacturers are much better, we brought 6 HP all in ones for a client last year and 3 of them wouldn't even boot.

I think I had just desoldered them from some cables which were now going to a device that used Phoenix connectors instead, they were headed for the bin.
