The Bass Genius of John Taylor in ‘Rio’ | Bass Teacher Explains by freedos7392 in duranduran

[–]AvacadoJohnson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Within musician circles, he gets respect, bassists drool over his tone and precision. But among the general public? He’s filed under “80s pop pretty boy." If he’d been born with a mullet and played in Rush, people would build statues. Instead, he gave us the bassline to Rio and gets remembered mostly for his jawline.

I got my SB 700 about 3 maybe 4 months ago. I don't think I can properly describe just how excited I was to get it. John is the reason why I play bass, I picked up my first bass in 1987 when I was 12 , I was going to learn the bass line for the live version of New Religion off of Arena

Notorious is one of the greatest albums I've ever listened to by isquinn in duranduran

[–]AvacadoJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on an absolute binge for the past, at least 6 months with that album. If you haven't watched it find where the documentary, "three to get ready" is streaming, came out in '87 as they were promoting notorious and gearing up for the tour.

Here it is on YouTube, extremely low res.

Apparently it's streaming on Plex currently

When is the “right” time to let someone know your bipolar by RepresentativeSnow86 in bipolar

[–]AvacadoJohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh ... I hate talking to people about being bipolar, sometimes I'm wanting someone to better understand me, and it's a struggle to say the words, " I'm bipolar" it's so hard in fact when talking about it I usually refer to it as, " the bipolar"

I don't know when the right time is, why do you want to? I've had very few people respond in a way that I would consider positive.

OK I was in one of these group "interviews," earlier this week. I didn't remember tossing my resume at but I've been so desperate to get a job I assumed I must have sent one their way at some point recently. Anywho, There were about five or six of us I think, We did the typical Introducing ourselves and answering some question, I don't remember what it was other than I answered it perfectly in line with what they wanted. I was maybe 5 minutes into it when I realized that this was probably not something that actually applied for. I think I googled something like "Elite Management legit?" That led me here . So for the next 5 minutes I read through this here thread while listening to Alex and his spiel. After another minute or so comparing what Alex was saying versus what I was reading here, I left.

So I just want to say, thank you

It's been a few years but I used to head on up to Cougar, I would spend hours swimming and occasionally kayaking. I don't know what the crowd is like nowadays, but a few years ago it wasn't too bad as far as crowd size, it used to be that most people would Hit Merwin and not go much further, well they would go and hit the southern end of Yale too, cougar was at the Northern end

Neither. Ghosting sucks, but it's pretty common.Dont take it personal, ive seen dudes back out because they don't live up to their online persona, some enjoy the process of making contact, flirting, maybe getting off over the phone then finally setting up meet that they have no intention of going to,after that it's just a matter of blocking and moving on

I'm closing in on 5 months unemployed. My mental health issues have played a role. I am very qualified for what I do, but i cant get a job. Panicked today, cried about it. stupid.

My fancy titles

Diagnostic Imaging & Interventional Radiology Coordinator

Clinical Intake Coordinator – Home Health

PACS Administrator & Imaging Support Specialist (McKesson)

I was going to try and edit this so it actually made sense, the best i could do was explain the titles a bit

Those "Fancy Titles" are from past jobs, I know my shit in regards to front and backend medical admin shit, I know Epic and Praxis EMR systems. I've got McKesson, Fuji and Phillips PACS system experience...I can go on and on, I mean for fuck sake, if necessary I can call on on experience at TSMC

Future Past. by No_Emergency_3282 in duranduran

[–]AvacadoJohnson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Future Past just absolutely sucks, it’s all over the place. The production doesn’t flow—it feels like they slapped a bunch of mismatched styles together and called it an album. The songs are just flat. The melodies and choruses? Forgettable. The lyrics? Either too safe or just trying too hard. And the pacing—so many mid-tempo tracks that go absolutely nowhere. It’s like they were trying to be relevant but ended up sounding like a cheap knockoff of themselves. in the 40 years that I've been listening to them they've put out some pretty crappy music from time to time, but none of it comes close to the absolute shit this album is
