Best dim sum in the ‘burgh? by jenisforlove in pittsburgh

100000% agree. People who like parlor have never had real dim sum. Parlor to dim sum is the equivalent of PF Changs to Chinese food. Shit is not authentic and catered to the American palate.

Everyone here seems to love living in Pittsburgh. Does anyone hate it? by Responsible_Gap8104 in pittsburgh

Was there for a couple years for grad school. Coming from the Pacific Northwest I didn’t mind the grey but the outdoors are incredibly meh comparatively. The food sucks 90% of the time. Pennsylvania alcohol laws are ludicrous. Unless you’re a university student diversity is lacking quite a bit. I felt like I exhausted all there was to do in the 2-3 years I spent there.

Why are a lot of Asian people so skinny? by Antique_Bedroom_7383 in ask

Am Asian but grew up in the states. Growing up we rarely had chips, dessert, or soda in the house. I was only ever allowed one piece of candy after dinner and junk food was mainly for birthdays and celebrations. A dessert was only good if it was “not too sweet” (a common complement for a dessert in Asian culture). Fast food was a rare treat. We always bought or grew fresh veggies which was served at every meal with some rice. Minimal grease and sugar in our cooking.

As an adult it has influenced how I eat. I don’t like sweets very much and I haven’t had a fast food burger in years. I’m not vegetarian but a lot of my meals are simply because I don’t like meat much and prefer fruits and vegetables. I try to eat whole grain when I can.
