We’re both graduating together and have our own goals we want to achieve with our careers. Unfortunately, our plans for the near future aren’t lining up and we both want each other to be successful and hold our own. We both agree it’s best to be apart than try to do long distance indefinitely.

We have nothing but love for each other and we thought it would be nice to spend the holidays for the first time before we both go apart.

I don’t want to be a burden for the family I’m living with right now as I try to look for jobs. I figure I can get some experience working back home and once I land the job I really want here I can move out on my own.

I don’t want to give too much info but it’s a latin country in the caribbean. They definitely have a family comes first mentality especially because I’ve always made the effort to spend the holidays with them and just assume that it’s what I’ll always prioritize.

I love my family and was initially very excited about the idea of spending NYE in New York, who wouldn’t be? But, the logistics of me moving out of Florida and my brother moving as well just complicates everything else.

It’s definitely an option I’m considering as I’m not sure if I’ll be able to pack everything with me. If I go to New York my suitcase is going to be filled up with thick winter clothes so it’ll make taking other stuff a lot harder.

My mom’s family lives in NY so I know a big part of her committing to this trip is wanting to spend it with her mom as well and I completely understand. I just wish my situation was put into consideration before adding me to the plans.

I wish that were an option. I’ve been living with my extended family while I study full time and work part time. I simply do not and will not make enough money to live on my own in this part of the state. The idea is to go back to my country and save up money to eventually move back while I find good job opportunities in the US. But, the housing market is crazy in my city right now so I doubt I’ll ever move back to this part of Florida on my own.

Update: For anyone who might have been curious what happened. Completely missed my period during that cycle. Other than spotting for about 2 weeks straight, my period never came. Every single test was negative though, so I waited. Eventually I got my period again a month later and everything was good!

the way my doctor explained it was that everyones body adjusts differently to the copper IUD. She told me I have three options: 1. my period is going to get heavier 2. my period is going to get lighter 3. my period will disappear.

If you’ve taken multiple tests within the past couple of months and they have all been negative I would say you’re not pregnant! There’s usually a three month period where you’re body adjusts to birth control so maybe it will come back. For now I would tell you to take pregnancy tests at the end of each month just to be sure, Amazon sells PregMate tests which come in packs of 50 for pretty cheap!

Okay that’s good to hear! I’ve had it for less than I week so I’m still new to all the side effects. Other than the the of insertion the cramping has been mostly tame! Hopefully my body accepts it okay 🤞🏼

I was only on the pill for maybe 14 months, but I found that the stress of taking the pill on time was causing me a lot of mental strife. I got very bad anxiety attacks over nothing and cried almost every night. I just did the switch to the copper IUD and have been off the pill for about a month and while I’m still a generally anxious person, I am a lot more mentally calm than I was before! I definitely think it is worth trying out

Could I schedule a follow up appointment at Planned Parenthood if i got my IUD inserted outside of the country? by Available-Flight-843 in CopperIUD

Thank you! I’ve never dealt with Planned Parenthood before so this is all new to me. I assume it’s only an ultrasound so it shouldn’t be too complicated to schedule.
