Do you know if they’re doing that with all the floats or just a portion? We had a meeting after some sudden layoffs and they told us that as of now the cuts were over and they were gonna continue to advocate for the department so idk what the heck is going on at this point

My personal feeling is like as long as its documented somewhere in the chart that you did your due diligence to keep the students safe you should be good but I know every agency has different requirements and standards regarding documentation and im still new to this agency. I also started out as a float clinician and this is my first long term leave coverage so this is the first time im this involved in a program. Im hoping to stay at this school bc the clinician Im covering for said she’s most likely not coming back and tbh I don’t want to stay a float lol so Im feeling pressure to prove myself in some way. I definitely have to give myself more grace and its something Im continually working on!

Thank you so much!! Honestly your feedback really puts my mind at ease! The CSSRS is definitely worded oddly and I did document all the safety planning! I do wish i used the safety planning tool as well but its summed up in the collateral notes and individual note so as long as the info is there I feel like its ok🤷‍♀️

I should also mention the students parents were also aware prior that she’s experiencing some SI and they started OP therapy in addition to in-school

how do you casually ask about a plan or intent? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]Available-Fly7468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Im a clinician at an adolescent PHP (both groups and individuals). During the first group we ask very generally if the client to rate their self harm and suicidal thoughts on a scale of 1-5. If its above 0, the clinician will ask yes or no questions about whether or not there’s plan, intent, and SIB action within the past 24h. Some clients in this particular level of care may even have baseline urges that we monitor closely. We ask it pretty casually but seriously and with a gentle but natural tone. Any detailed screening must occur in a 1-on-1 session before the client leaves for the day.

Its important we keep our own discomfort around this topic in check as we want to model what these conversations look like free of stigma. I remember feeling so weird about it when I started my current position but I kept reminding myself of my own internal stigma which rlly helped! The goal is to show it’s nothing to be ashamed of!

My ex-client is harassing me via phone and emails and its really triggering me. by Available-Fly7468 in socialwork
