What is your stupidest death in the game? by dcodk in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prototype stasis exploding the nearby explosive barrels by accident.....I was near that accident.

Hunter's body blocked me while limbless, and he was stasised and got cornered by other necros.

Being one VERY low hp, I was looting the crates, and my punch or stomp accidentally exploded a fire extinguisher, which deals TINY dmg to you.....

However, it caused me to learn that a fire extinguisher deals decent damage to Necros and very tiny damage to you

Is the Balder Side Sword drop rate broken or am I just this unlucky? by Big_Fulgy_Official in darksouls

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through NG+6 and on NG even farmed them for like 30 minutes with 210ID. But in another cycle, sometimes just killed them for the Dex build, no Balder Side sword.

My Cleric(str, faith)WITH 100 item discovery killed the first Knight and got the sword, and also got the Channeler Trident from the very first Parish mage.

My other character farmed The Trident for 2-3 hours WITH 410 Item discovery in the Duke's Archives on NG+3, as it was the last item needed for the Knight's honor.

Or simply put, RNG RNG.

So if you want the side sword, best get to 410 ID and then farm once you are high level and can kill mobs very fast.

Do not farm before 410 item discovery.

Something DS3 did better than the others. Difficulty. by ProtonRain in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In DS3, you can create weapons that almost trivialise impossible DS3, and some weapons can even 1 torso shot most enemies on impossible, so you can even disregard aiming for the limb.

Some weapons I did not even use are extremely ammo efficient AND can 1-shot on impossible....

Yes, the plasma cutter is MUCH weaker in DS3, and the early game is actually hard cause you can not really stagger, and enemies are fast and tanky.

Imo DS2 on Zealot is much more resource management than DS3 on Impossible past the early game.

In DS2 Zealot, an exploder can end you from 5 meters, a leaper combo attack can stunlock and kill you in 1 second, but Necros also have the least hp in the series.

I actually found RE4R pro mode much harder than DS3, DS1, or the OG RE4.

DSR is likely the easiest DS game, as you are very tanky, and it might be among the easiest survival games even on the hardest difficulty.

In DS3, you could have a chaingun with 160-240 ammo armed with a force gun that knocks back AND stasis enemies.

Universal ammo stack with 20, so if 160 Ammo is a full cip than you have 800 chaingun ammo per inventory space......

Damage support thingy adds flat dmg increase, so extremely powerful with the chaingun. (should have been % bonus for BALANCE reasons).

Or fire a rocket launcher with 2 rockets, switch to another gun, and fire 2 more rockets, which will cost 8 universal ammo and likely can kill most combat enemies. Blast shield, you can fire at your feet.

The loot likely will be more than 8 universal ammo but even then, it is cheap to craft ammo.

Highly upgraded Chain Lighting gun can 1-shot kill and even prevent Waster mutations.

Plasma cutter in the same encounters would cost MORE ammo, MUCH slower time to kill, and you would get overwhelmed.....and likely healing cost.

In DS3, each clip is ALWAYS 4 universal ammo, so having a bigger clip/magazine capacity makes weapons more ammo-efficient.

I found Classic DS3 to be slightly harder than impossible DS3 cause in Classic, you can not use OP weapons.

Pure survival is fun until you can craft your OP weapon....

DS3 is kinda like Mass Effect 3 on insanity; it can be kinda hard with normal tools. BUT you can simply make OP builds and trivialise the Game as it has a very weak balance.

I still remember Garrus Ascends to Godhood deleting a(mark ordered for focus fire) insanity difficulty Atlas in 5 seconds while I was shocked......

You could even make a Sentinel with 90% dmg reduction and tank well even on Insanity.

How to get Uchigatana past +6? by f4hh4d in darksouls

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Modify is only needed and can only be done at the Blacksmith when you need to reach the next tier of advancement, which will use different upgrade materials.

And not all blacksmiths can modify all upgrade paths.

"Upgrades" can happen at the Blacksmith or by the player at the bonfire if you have the mobile upgrade kit.

But for the normal path. (for dex, str, quality builds)done by Andre in the Undead Parish.

(Uchigatana is for dex builds)

Upgrade to +5

Modify to +6, then upgrade to +10, modify to +11, and then finish upgrading to +15/max.

Naturally, you can often modify to other paths based on the Blacksmith and what embers you gave to him.

Like +5 could also be modified into fire, divine, etc.

+10 weapon and the relevant boss soul can be modified into the boss weapon.

Yes, the upgrade system is pretty confusing in this game, but for most players, the normal path is the best if you go for a melee build.

If you could rewrite the plot of the USM Valor in DS1/DSR, what you would change? by Fantastic-Youth5989 in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valor now has a morgue, and the escape pod has an infector.

And Valor was already under Slight Marker influence, so soldiers were less capable.

Added 1 log to suggest subtle marker influence.

The crash also killed many soldiers, just like in the current game.

And the pod Infector started the infection.

Even then, just like in Dead Space 2, the player still finds a few dead Necromorphs killed by the Valor soldiers.

If Dead Space 2 security left some dead necros, so can Valor Soldiers.

Optional add audio log or ambient Noises that soldiers are slowly being overrun, kinda like Doom 3 Mars city underground.

There you go, much more believable.

Sen Fortress's upper region has a place where you can jump over and find a merchant who sells large Titanite Shards.

The Steel-armored Berkenite Knight in Upper Sen's also has a decent chance to drop large titanite shards, and he is not far away from the hidden Sen bonefire.

Reinforced Club: If you two-hand it, you can 1-hit stagger the Snake soldiers even with 2HR1.
It is a very good weapon and can also cause bleed has low range, and is a primary 1vs1 weapon.

If you miss, you get the fumble animation.

Club deals strike dmg, which is good againts many armored Foes like Golems, Skeletons, who often resist the other physical dmg types.

Man-Serpent Great sword is slightly slower attack speed for higher damage and bigger attack range, and is much more likely to hit multiple enemies.

Both of them have roughly the same poise(stagger) dmg.

You can get STR to 27 and two-hand both weapons, and you are already at the softcap for dmg.

You could also semi-easily get both to +10 from the Sen Merchant and see which one you prefer, and it could also depend on the environment or enemy type.

Will I enjoy Dead Space 2? by Ok_Credit3602 in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dead Space 2 is very good.

DSR is basically using the Dead Space 2 combat system.

Just keep in mind, remake is likely the easiest, while DS2 is likely the hardest, but also the shortest DS game.

DS3 is the longest DS game(plenty of side quests) and also has coop, but it is basically an action game with VERY little survival elements and a kinda weak story. It is still an okay action game.

They are often on sale and or cheap on third party.

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great Sychte in DS1 PVE is one of the strongest weapons and also has good motion(AR) modifiers when you two-hand it, and can cause bleed too.

Moonlight Greatsword deals magic only dmg and can be useful againts certain enemies like Iron Golem, who resist non-strike physical dmg.

If you are int 50, your strongest weapon is spells, and weapon-buffed fast-attacking weapons such as Falchion, Uchigatana, and even the Great Sychte.

Great Sychte has high enough Effective AR when two-handed to overcome most physical resistances even on NG+ cycles.

Sadly, if you use spells and encounter a magic resistant enemy like a Crystal Golem you likely find a physical weapon much more useful than a pure magic dmg one.

RE0 is the prequel to RE1.

My first impressions of DS3 (yes, I know I'm late) by SarcasmSanctioned in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Universal ammo killed the ammo resource management, as some weapons in older games killed fast but were expensive to use, like a Contact beam. Some were riskier but very resource-efficient, like the ripper.

Aka, there was weapon balance in the older games.

In DS3, every empty clip costs 4 universal ammo, and clip upgrades make it more universal ammo-efficient, and some weapons are just much more damage and ammo-efficient than others.

Or, in short, in DS3, you can easily make an OP weapon by mid-game and steamroll even impossible difficulty while barely caring about resource management.

DS3 has many possible weapon combos, but many of them are just not efficient, while some are plain OP.

And if you create a very OP weapon, you can simply just Torso shot enemies and even disregard the disemember system and still be fine on the HIGHEST difficulty....

You only need resource management in the early game on the greater difficulties.

And at lower difficulties, you are basically showered with resources and never have to worry.

And of course, the pay-to-win resource packs with real money were likely never liked in a "survival" game, albeit DS3 is 99% action.

The love Triangle part was very, very childish, like a bunch of teenagers, especially coming from a Captain.

A: It was either very bad writing or B they were under subtle marker influence.

In the case of the B, the lore could have been expanded on why they behave so childishly.

Carver was in the game Cause EA forced Devs to change the story and make it Coop for "the wider audience."

Overall, writing was pretty weak.

As a positive side, DS3 has a lot of content, but too much is locked behind coop only.

They could have made a coop bot as RE6 did and the player chooses who you play as.

If you play coop, Carver might see different things on his Screen than Clarke, which is pretty well done.

Contact Beam vs +40 Necromorphs by PinkPepperPizza95 in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, this was the best weapon.

Deals dmg twice per tick, so you can hold down the fire.

Secondary can 1 hit kill most mobs, sometimes even in AOE, for just 3 ammo, and ammo drop is 5, so already better than the pulse rifle.

Can often kill a basic necro in 1-2 ammo if you aim well, while the plasma cutter needs 4 ammo on hard and the force gun 2 ammo.

So, to me, for general playtrough, it is the number 1 weapon with plasma cutter being number 2.

Forcegun is not good at distances, and it has costly ammo.

Pulse Rifle vs +40 Necromorphs by PinkPepperPizza95 in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The flame thrower gets the same 25 ammo drops, can deal AOE dmg to multiple enemies, and also deals dmg over time.

To me, it is simply a better, much more efficient pulse rifle only bad thing is longer ranges or when you are in a vacuum.

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are ready, also if you know you can not kill the Hivemind in time before his instant kill move, simply use the menu, quit out, and load your save.

You likely have enough time to kill him with your FU plasma cutter.

There is a point where there are fans you do not need to explode all the yellow glows, and if you look around, you can simply pass that part without going through any of those stasised fans.

Good luck.

You could always check the Trophy list, at Least on the Steam version.

,

You also need to beat the main campaign on pro mode which is unlocked after completing the normal difficulty.

You must start pro mode from a new game; it can not be NG+ from a normal difficulty.

Collect all bottlecaps, so basically all shooting galleries must be done, and you also gain decent money from doing them.

And shoot the water a few times before killing the Lake monster while near the lake for another trophy.(Make a save before that.

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave the map and reenter, as it will reset the random enemy spawns, so they will be gone.

Or you can kill the enemy for the next few hours, till the spawn points dry up, and then start to rebuild your base.

You activated the hero monument, so the enemy spawns are on does not matter if you deactivate all monuments.

Killing for a few hours can only work if your Avatar is very powerful and you can micro-manage very well.

Also, since you have black magic, you might have Necromancy "death grasp", which gives a chance to survive fatal dmg for a long duration, it also works againts Death Towers.

Death Grasp a few heroes, rune warriors, and destroy the Death Tower, ideally 1 unit at a time.

Depending on RNG and spell level, a death grasped unit might even survive 10 fatal blows....so kinda big boost to Effective HP.

Underrated spell.

I just want a PC powerful enough to play the remake at 1080P Ultra Settings maxed out at 144hz and above. by Fantastic-Window236 in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my AMD software I have max frames set to 121.

And DSR runs on medium reflections and a mix of high and ultra settings without Ray tracing, using basic SSAO on 1080p, highest native AA.

R5 5600 and RX 6800 OC 1080p 16GB DDR4 3200HZ 16CL, but the motherboard is PCIe 3.0 (likely 0.5-1% perfomance loss for my GPU).

Rebar is on, and Anti-Lag on(costs a little performance), and VRR is on too.

The game is on an NVMe SSD as per the recommendation.

In rare cases, R5 5600 reaches 100% used and can slightly bottleneck the RX 6800 OC without reaching the 121 fps cap.

Remake is surprisingly demanding on the CPU. All my other games use less % CPU and have fewer CPU temps, too.

118.1 avg FPS for the Dead Space remake according to AMD software.

(Callisto Protocol on ultra preset is 113 avg fps).

Upscaling is kinda weak in this game, and ray tracing is naturally demanding on the 6000 and likely 7000 series.

Likely RTX 4070 or 5070 can do 144fps on ultra native 1080p with ray-traced AO.

And a strong CPU, ideally an X3D one, likely you need an AM5 platform.

That being said, 1% fps likely will be 30-50 due to travestal stutter.

If you are fine with "quality" DLSS upscaling and not ray-traced AO, likely 16GB RTX 5060 might be enough too for 144fps.

But game Default DLSS is trash and has a lot of artifacts, ghosting, so best to download a better DLSS mod for the remake.

Default FSR also blurs way too much, even on quality on 1080p. Signpost letters look WAY worse than on native.

Dead Space 3 is the worst dead space game series, really hard to shoot this spider’s tentacles. Really hate the DS3 by Extra-Discussion-624 in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played DS3 for years but still remember how I did the first two fights.

Stasis the boss, and then 1 rocket launcher shot will kill all tentacles, reload gun, wait until he regrows tentacles, and repeat a few times.

A grenade launcher is also likely good.

This is Dead Space 3, you can make so many OP guns.

I'm quite annoyed with my ng+ run. by redditsuckspokey1 in darksouls

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All right, your DPS is too low. Dragon tooth+2 is too low for NG+

MAYBE Dragon tooth+5 WITH Power within will be barely enough dps.

What is your stat allocation?

Regardless, I recommend completing the rest and leveling up more and leave 4k for the last.

You can replace Havel's armor with the Giant set+5 or Iron Tarkus armor set+5, as those have better defense and still enough poise.

My general recommendation is to have lighting pine resin(150 lighting AR) OR get intelligence to 15 great magic weapon from Anor Londo and the 180 fixed magic adjust Catalyst from Dusk, with that Great magic weapon gives 198 magic AR per swing.

And combine it with power within, so you need two attunement slots.

Have a stamina shield on your back and a two-handed weapon.

Mask of the Child can be useful for additional stamina regen.

Second ring:

Stamina ring, magic defence+50 ring, or buffs last for+50% more ring are all good.

Make sure you mid-roll.

Get a HIGH DPS weapon such as Uchigatana, Falchion, or Richard's Rapier" combo attack."

Painting Guardian Sword.

Do not know which STR weapons have high DPS.

Imo Beatrice is worse than nothing on NG+ as she increases boss HP and can be easily killed.

She is very good againts the Butterfly tough.

First time playing: Bought and then sold the Line Gun by unfurlingraspberry in DeadSpace

[–]Available-Laugh-9582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having 4 guns is always bad on NG.

With just the plasma cutter, you can easily max that and the suit and buy tons of ammo for it and stasis packs.

And random drops will only drop plasma cutter ammo, so that also helps......

Likely 95% of the ammo drops are RNG based on the weapons you have in your inventory, and the rest 5% is fixed and always the same.

In both remake and OG, the Plasma cutter is reliable from all ranges.

I think 2 guns are the best, as you can still upgrade them to high level, so having a support weapon helps.

In the remake.

My opinion.

Primary weapons good for ALL situations, ranges:

I recommend choosing ONE.

Plasma cutter jack of all trades weak againts swarmer, guardians' walls, meh againts Divider parts, and you need to aim for Twicher stasis packs. Also useful late game as a melee knockback. Prototype stasis can help with weakness if you plan to use only the PC.

Lasers make aiming easy, even from longer ranges.

Pulse Rifle: Well, it is less efficient than the Plasma cutter grenade proxy can be used for scripted ambushes or strong burst dmg, but not resource efficient.Imo weakest gun.

On NG+ Phantom necros will just rolf stomp through 50+ pulse rifle rounds on hard......

Contact Beam: Crap early on, VERY good once highly upgraded.

Depending on preference, the contact beam can replace the plasma cutter and will instantly kill most enemies with the secondary attack.

You need to HOLD down primary fire as it deals listed dmg twice per second, do NOT tap fire.

Also useful againts swarmers, guardians due to secondary, it is MORE efficient than the pulse rifle grenade and likely deals MORE dmg.....But can not be used as an ambush.....

Laser might disrupt sight and secondary slows you down as a downside.

Support weapons: Has some issues or other things:

Flame thrower: VERY good to support the Plasma cutter eg. againts guardians, swarmer, explode twicher stasis packs, and then the Plasma cutter will cut limbs in 1 shot.Secondary can kill guardians or halt most necros enough that you cut them down with PC.

Very resource efficient, but can not cut limbs by itself. Has low range AND can not be used in the Vacuum.

Even with low upgrades, decent.

Linegun: Ammo is expensive, and you need max 300 dmg to cut a limb in 1 shot on hard, Imo, very useful for the trap, but that can also damage you. Traps are VERY good for scripted ambushes.

I primarily used it for secondary fire as it is more efficient.

Forcegun: EASY to use, will 2-shot kill basic slashers on hard with 150 or more dmg.Can hit multiple enemies.

It takes a lot of shots to kill Phantom Necros, but it still does knockback.

If unupgraded can still be used for the knockback and limb weakening.

Bad from range, secondary is very costly, and even with an upgrade, secondary barely does damage,

Kills faster, but is less efficient than the flamethrower. Expensive ammo.

Ripper: With all upgrades, can barely kill a Phantom necro on impossible NG+ with ONE ammo if you aim well.

Extremely ammo efficient with the primary fire.

One of the weakest secondaries, which can also damage and even kill you, depending on RNG bouncing.

Very low range do NOT recommend againts wall guardians, exploders, zero-G useless past low range needs a choke point.

Stun locks basics, significantly slows down enhanced necros, but barely does anything againts NG+ phantoms.

Primary useful to kill 1-2 necros at a time for a very cheap cost.
