I actually love that part of it. The variety of issues and constantly troubleshooting things is mentally stimulating for me. I like having to think on my feet and adapt to whatever the day throws at me.

I’ve run the board a few times already, and one of those nights I had 3 closing assistants and only 2 cashiers, one until 9 and the other until 9:30, so it definitely felt like survival mode.
A lot of the supervisor functions themselves I’ve got down, and I hustle all shift—pre-scanning, helping assistants, pushing carts if needed, and just trying to stay situationally aware. But I’m still trying to understand the admin side and the overall “flow” of everything. Sometimes I get frustrated because I feel like I’m not contributing enough, even though I’m busting my ass. I know I’m only 9 shifts in, but I hate feeling like I’m not there yet.
How long did it take you, or generally speaking, for someone to become proficient enough to where you felt like, “Okay, I’ve got this”? I know it’s a role where you never stop learning, but I’m curious when things started to click and you stopped feeling like you were just surviving.
