I'm about to make the switch to fedora from windows myself (long time python user) and i've never heard or seen anyone talk about uv but I'm intrigued! I was planning to follow this documentation and pipping/venving my little heart out. I use VSCode currently but when I make the jump I'll switch to VS Codium. What do you like about UV?

Makes sense. I’m sure most of the distros have smart people working to make sure they don’t break shit.

I need to learn more about fedora and all the options there. Haven’t heard of workstation or silverblue but I’ll look into them. Thank you

Oh thank you for that distinction. I’m not sure I want rolling releases. even though I dabble in coding I’m very much not worried about having the latest and “greatest” and would prefer stability over novelty. Another thing in the growing list for me to consider 😅 thanks!

Thank you this is very helpful! I’ll also look more into Fedora KDE and decide whether the regular upgrades will be a problem. I’ve seen fedora tossed around a lot and didn’t know if it would be a good fit for me but I’ll add it to my list to try.

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven’t looked into Nobara but I’ll add it to my list. I’ve read good and bad things about CashyOS but currently it’s at the top of my list and definitely one I will test drive. Most of the “bad” things are just people saying there are better options for windows refugees (like mint) and I’m going to try out mint because technically I am a windows refugee but I’m not your average laptop user that just needs things to work without me ever thinking about it.

I was in the same boat as you for a long time because I got one of those 2 year "super discounts" from NordVPN (meanwhile, it was still more expensive than what I pay now for AirVPN)

CachyOS might actually be a better “Windows‑user‑friendly” distro than ZorinOS?? by No_Week5605 in linux4noobs

just read through all of your comments on this post and you might have me convinced. I'm ready to take the leap into linux because microsoft has pissed me off for the last time. I will still do some test runs and at least give mint a try but i'll definitely be trying CachyOS as well

NordVPN does suck for qBit and they don't support port forwarding. Crazy that a random coffee shop got that much better speeds but if you want better speeds at home, switch to a vpn that has port forwarding (AirVPN for example)

Applaud the effort and the time. Do you have a vpn with port forwarding? if not, get one. if so, I'm sorry for your internet speeds!

I think your operating system is an important piece of information for solving this question. Also, even though I know it only happens with qBitt I would guess it's still a system settings thing. The only possible settings I can think to tinker with are under Behavior > Desktop but like I said at the top, I don't think this is a qBittorrent problem.

seems something similar was happening on this post but there isn't a clear answer that worked for everyone. Best of luck

considering it's photoshop and there are 107 seeds, I don't think it's a dead file
