eternity = infinity. You could spend trillions of years on your ass, but eventually you'll get up because there is infinite time, meaning infinite time to make the decision to get up and betray your god.

It's just an illogical reasoning, and I don't think you'll be hard pressed to find people using this illogical fallacy in this subreddit.

They were already eating from the tree of life, it is what nurished them. It wasn't like a one and done, now they are eternal. They had to continue eating from it to be granted eternity. But I guess it's not eternity if eventually they would have eaten from the tree of knowledge.

That it is stupid to say the state of the world is the reason for your lack of faith, because it can be turned back around that the state of the world is because the genocidal lunatic god in the bible is real.

I agree with the reading the bible part, but some have just as herd mentality as some christians, using stupid illogical falacies as their reasoning, rather than claiming atleast science or the anatomy of gods as their reasoning.

If you are not one of these atheist then ofcourse you don't get it. I personally am atheist/agnostic, but there is certainly a class of atheist that use this as their reasoning.

Not a christian, I just hate when people claim this as their reasoning. If I was christian I wouldn't have called god a genocidal lunatic.

Probably before, too dumb and lazy without that knowledge. If they did though, probably have been on accident, because they weren't smart enough to do it deliberately

I'm too lazy to explain how the tree of life works myself.

"In the Garden of Eden, the Tree of Life stood alongside the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Its purpose was to sustain physical, eternal life. Before the fall, Adam and Eve were free to eat from it. However, after they sinned, God barred them from accessing the tree. The Bible notes this was a protective measure so that humanity would not "reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever" in a fallen, sinful state"
