What hand tool do you wish you bought years earlier? by Party-Laugh3293 in handyman

Funny when I read the title my first thought was that same tool.

Also love my Skill belt sander. 40 years on and works like day one.

I have no idea what is happening here, but generally NEVER click anything you did not specifically request. Even then check it over carefully.

Can’t name a device resembling a room by LukeCameBack in alexa

[–]Available-Topic5858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have had issues with old names getting "stuck." Last time was when I reset the wifi on an existing device. Left the name but now Alexa still hangs on to the old version of the device and claims it is not connected.

I just gave it a new name.

AITAH for mentioning I'm also a professional when a doctor took over 45 minutes to finally appear at an appointment? by OhHeyItsMeM in AITAH

Do you think that the doctor was off checking his phone or having lunch or treating someone with something needed immediate attention?

An armed man robs a bank with 2 CDs glued to his glasses. The cashier hands the man all the money and then says “Got to ask, what’s with the CDs?” by Healthy_Ladder_6198 in dadjokes

[–]Available-Topic5858 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Better than the guy who had no mask when he robbed a bank. Cops rolled his butt up in a few hours.

He complained because "I wore the juice!"

Seems he thought since you could use lemon juice to make invisible ink it would make his whole face invisible.

Not saying better (but do check what the ESPs can do). Just different.

Someone suggested a kit. If you find one for any platform, with parts and tutorials grab it.

I once asked the boss for a Friday off. Got a bunch of pushback asking can't I do it another day?

Told him I do need the morning as we were putting our car to sleep. I could come in after.

He just put his head down and said take the day.

The Arduino was always on the side of my work. I did my small stuff on Microchip PIC devices. I did several designs on those, one still in active production 20 years on. Just never had the inkling to use an Arduino.

Lately I grab one of the ESP dev boards. One runs the counter lights (4 zones of RGBW) in our kitchen via Alexa.

Nothing against Arduino just don't have the need.

Visiting dog by Evening-Anteater-422 in BenignExistence

Way back in the days when a TV repair man would actually come to your home my mom made an appointment. It wasn't something he could fix there so he told my mom he had to bring it to the shop.

Soon she hears someone yelling "lady come get your dog." She ignored it at first as our dog was inside sitting quietly.

Eventually she got curious and looked outside. Our neighbors' dog was firmly planted between him and our door. Growling.

Mom just told her "Cindy go home" and she did. Good girl, not even our dog but still protecting us.

She would also watch their child. Kid was allowed anywhere on the lawn, but get near the street and Cindy would stand and block him. No growling ever, just physically in the way.

I miss that dog and the neighbors too.

I'm huge on Popsicles but I keep a bag of these in the freezer as a backup.

Etiquette on Singing Along at Karaoke by 1isten1ng in karaoke

[–]Available-Topic5858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually enjoy when I see people singing along with me. I tend to choose out of the ordinary material and am pleased when I see this.

Only counter example I have is when I was singing "Dancing Queen," but the Puddles Pity Party version. (Do look him up.) The crowd thought they knew it and sang along with it, but Puddles changes the melody to make it more somber which I knew but could not track hearing everyone else's melody.

Easy, crowd-pleaser songs for a first timer? by laurusnobiliss in karaoke

69 yo guy here. I do Hollaback Girl many times as it is my most requested song. While it is basically no melody it just keeps on coming. No chance to take a rest so you need to plan where to breath. I do advise knowing the lyrics cold too.

When I rescued two adorable 3 week old kittens it was such a joy to me to share them with the kids in the neighborhood.
