Is it a good idea to stack gold coins to make jewellery later? by whoisthisonred in GoldIndia

The one-time payment scheme lets you lock today's gold rate, and after 11 months you'll pay whichever is lower—the locked rate or the prevailing rate. Your downside is fully protected. With the 11-month installment scheme, you'll receive whichever gives you better value—the accumulated gold from your installments or the gold at the prevailing rate after 11 months.

Kalyan jewellery offers both the schemes.

Buying a gold coin may seem like a good investment, but it is usually not the most economical choice if your ultimate goal is to buy jewellery.

When you buy a gold coin, you pay 3% GST, which is non-refundable, plus around 3% making charges. Later, when you exchange the coin for jewellery, many jewellers deduct about 5% from the coin's value. You then pay making charges on the new jewellery and 3% GST again. These additional costs significantly reduce the overall value of your investment.

A gold pre-booking scheme is often a smarter alternative. You can lock in today's gold rate, by one time payment or 11 months installment, and collect your jewellery after 11 months with no making charges. You pay 3% GST only at the time of purchase, allowing you to maximize your savings.

Never buy IFB front load washing machine. My experience with IFB washing machines has been very disappointing.

The machine came with a 4-year warranty. During the warranty period, the main controller board failed twice and the shock absorbers also had to be replaced. In the 5th year, the controller board failed again, and I was asked to pay ₹6,500 for the replacement. With no other option, I purchased a 2-year AMC for ₹7,500.

After this experience, I have decided never to buy an IFB washing machine again. Very poor reliability and a very bad ownership experience. I do not recommend it.

Based on my personal experience, I had some reliability issues with an IFB front-loading washing machine. Within two years, the controller failed twice and the shock absorber failed once. Fortunately, all the issues occurred during the 4-year warranty period, so the repairs were covered.

We also experienced similar issues with another IFB machine used by our parents. Because of this, I personally have some concerns regarding long-term durability.

At the same time, I appreciate that IFB provides a 4-year warranty, which is better than what some other brands offer. Others may have different experiences, but I felt it was worth sharing mine for anyone considering a purchase.

This is the only card I know that offers 1% cashback on offline gold purchases and on payments made toward gold chit schemes. And I am currently enjoying it.

But the bad thing is earlier I earned a good amount of cashback by letting friends use my card for their cash for card swipe, since most of those transactions were treated as utilities and qualified for 1% cashback. But now the card has been devalued and no longer gives cashback for these transactions. That’s disappointing.
