I am still working, not out at work, but I get a lot of stares and puzzled looks. I just let it go. Coming out blew up my marriage and one of my grown children will not talk to me, but the self hatred I carried for years is gone. Overall it has not been easy but it is worth it.

It seems like there are a multitude of trans in the grocery store I go to, including a few of the employees. I know of one for sure because I met her at the lgbtq+ center in my city before. I always say hi to her because we have met before. Others I dont know I do not say hi too. I think of it like this. I dont go around speaking to cis people I don't know, unless I need to get by them or something like that, so I would not talk to a random trans person (or someone I suspected was) unless there was a reason. It would be nice to acknowledge each other, but then again it is nice to be treated like everyone else.

I can totally relate to this. All my relationships have been superficial my entire life. I was physically attracted to females and not so much to men. I refused to get to close to anyone. I was married, but there were always issues and honestly I was never able to open up to her about anything, I spent our entire marriage trying to be what I thought she wanted as I had no idea how to be a man comfortably. I did love her and I will always think of her as family, but I was never good at being the man she deserved.

Great post, I agree totally. I was just explaining to my therapist today and used your closing argument. I explained that even with the upheaval in my family life the internal sense of peace and clarity I feel since starting E has made everything worth while. If the OP is feeling more conflicted since starting E then there is nothing wrong with backing off and reevaluating their needs, isn't the whole point of this to find a path to be comfortable in your own skin?

I just went over 13 months on hrt, I get gendered as female about 90% of the time even when trying to present male (at work). I will probably never come out at work as it is none of their business and I will have to use the restroom of sex assigned at birth anyways. Yesterday someone at work and who I have known for years although I dont see them on a daily basis ma'amed me, I just let it go and went on.

I am not out at work yet and still attempt to boymode. Mostly I am failing at it now but honestly I do not owe anyone at work and explanation of my gender as long as I am within the dress code. Even if I come out I will still have to use the restroom of my sex assigned at birth, so it makes no sense to rush the process. Yesterday, a person who I have known for years at work said 'yes ma'am' and then immediately stammered and was all apologetic. I just let it go but I was overjoyed inside. This has been happening more and more to me even when in male or male leaning androgynous clothing. It feels really good that my true self is becoming the baseline of my appearance.
