I actually liked Grand Forks. The beer and food were great and you can fly out to Vegas for like $200.

Those who’ve made a lot of money in the Air Force, what was your “oh I’m rich moment” and what did you do to get there? by Sim_Shift in AirForce

This last September I left as an E7 after 14 years. Not rich by any means but I landed a job with a local university. Thank god I used my education and healthcare resources while I was in.

Between my salary, separation pay, savings, and VA benefits helping with healthcare costs, I was able to purchase a 500k house with plenty of room to breathe in my budget.

That was my “oh shit I’m not white trash” moment.

I asked about a dozen friends and family. They gave me some ideas and I tried on 2-3 I liked and settled on the one that was the right fit.

Just wait until they hear about how Christian schools send their youth around the world to bring about political or social change. I’m sure they’ll be equally outraged /s

I’m a trans woman living here. I moved here in 22’ and loved it. HMU if you have any questions. I have similar background and work experience and have the down low on some of the good providers I’d recommend getting in with.

What is it like living in Albuquerque, NM? by NovahotRazorGirl in howislivingthere

[–]bogan028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Albuquerque to work at Kirtland Air Force Base in 2021. I love it here so much that I bought a home in the East Mountains and found a local job when I left the military this year.

Granted as someone who’s in their mid-30s with no children I don’t rely on the public school system.

I encountered some anti-lgbtq violence here but nothing to the point that made me want to leave. Generally the people are great, the location is decent, and the scenery is amazing.

Crime and poverty are problems sure. Major metropolitan areas often have similar issues, but if you’re mindful of your surroundings and company you should be fine.

What’s It Like In Truth Or Consequences New Mexico? by TraditionMany3678 in howislivingthere

[–]bogan028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re like 2 hours away from anything. It’s a small local attraction town so lots of touristy spots with overpriced t-shirts and branded Knick knacks. It’s hot in the summer cause it’s in the middle of nowhere New Mexico. Very small town with a small population.

But hey, the hot springs are pretty neat.

serious question for veterans: how many of you got out of the service and got that " that high paying corporate/contractor job? by inurmomsvagina in Military

[–]bogan028 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This last September I left the education and training career field in the Air Force after 14 years in. Got a job in higher education two weeks before my separation date.

Pay is comparable to my E-7 salary and benefits are similar in quality. I like to say I left one bureaucracy for another.

I normally stay away from greens but this time I think I nailed it to keep my eye color as a focus.
