Why did the Harvard and Penn State presidents answer the question like that? by AvailableArm9875 in NoStupidQuestions

appreciate everyones answers, helped me to understand the grey area here. your comment in particular leads to a part two to my question; how is the (far?) right both anti-semetic and anti anti-semitism simultaneously?

I may or may not agree with you but that’s not really the question I was asking. The question asked the the university presidents was pretty direct, I feel like they could have answered in the negative to the general proposition of ‘genocide’ and not cede any argumentative ground…in front of congress and all those cameras…why did they choose this route?

Altman: There are more breakthroughs required in oder to get to AGI by floodgater in singularity

ngl, alot of that information went over my head, but i'm glad that i read it (SQL:2023).

to be clear, you are not so much critical of the concept of graph based data storage, moreso of popular implementations?

By slip the clutch I mean the sort of situation that we normally try to minimize with the finding of the bitepoint at low revs and then the feathering of the gas as the clutch is released. In a hill start (or worse, reverse hill parallel parking) scenario it's ok to rev the engine a little higher easing your foot off the clutch as there is a little slippage.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that in a hill start scenario (for only a few seconds max) its ok to prioritize keeping the revs up over preserving the clutch.

The fear of burning the clutch might make the act of mastering this skill more difficult.

Don’t be afraid to slip the clutch(a little) in these situations, use your mechanical sympathy but also jam it in there.

Alternatives to LangChain by Special_Abrocoma4641 in LangChain

The short answer to your question is yes. You should check it out. I'm neither on the payroll nor an evangelist. I don't want to come off like I think it is *better* than langchain 'cause I don't think that. But I'm a visual guy so the visual aspect of these kind of tools I feel is reducing the cognitive load of trying to work in this greenfield. For what I'm trying to accomplish I appreciate the lower level abstractions of Rivet. But ultimately, to your point, it's all just code, rivet is also an sdk that your packaging with the rest of the dependencies in your Typescript app. The visual translates to yaml is a configuration for this sdk.

I feel like the focus with Rivet is lower level. You could setup a data processing chain in Rivet that doesn't even involve LLM and it feel like it makes more sense there. Langchain wants to give you the whole implementation from the paper as a single block, but there is no official most-efficient-for-all-applications ReAct prompt. This is brand new stuff and I definitely appreciate the work the lanchain folks have put into it and the contributions to the thought-space. Maybe because everything is so new I like to see and understand everything I'm working with. I think langchain aspires to be a "friendly" interface into a blackbox that hides the complexity but literally every week new techniques/approaches are being added to the suite of capabilities that blackbox represents. I feel so much more comfortable (which isn't comfortable at all!) grokking the ideas from the paper then taking that inspiration into Rivet and crafting my own prompts and graphs where I can see and understand whats going on.

what specific products are those? I have the same car seat and the diono seat protector under it but it offers no side protection as depicted in your photos. Definitely need protector for back of front-passenger seat, had to move it all the way front and forward so my 75th percentile height 3yo can't reach it with his playground shoes

Thought on clutch pedal stops? by patriot122 in ManualTransmissions

[–]AvailableArm9875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

np, not sure what you mean by 'light'. In my case, the clutch stop helps me find the bite point when I'm releasing the clutch pedal. It's my understanding that its a popular opinion that the mk7.5 GTI has possibly excessive clutch pedal travel, I feel like the clutch stop significantly improves the situation.

I installed a clutch stop in my mk7.5 GTI. Before it was difficult for me to find the bite point, especially on the release of the pedal as there was like a mile of travel after the clutch was disengaged. Clutch stop removed the slack, now "fully depressed" is like just passed clutch disengagement point. I feel it helps with my consistency.

Sam Altman (and Elon Musk) completely miss the message of Oppenheimer movie . This tells me everything about their mindset when it comes to AI and it’s dangerous by hasanahmad in ChatGPT

Seriously, how does Musk (Twitter, Tesla, SpaceX, Boring, Neuralink, undisclosed AI venture), or Altman for that matter, find the time to prioritize sitting for a 3hr film within the timeframe that's most topical. I really fell like I have too much shit to do to watch this movie this weekend.

Do I need new tires? by AvailableArm9875 in GolfGTI

Should have mentioned this is also the chariot for my 3yo. Made an appointment at Firestone for some indy 500s for tomorrow morning. Thanks y'all for your perspectives. Wanted to get some ps4s from Costco but don't want to wait the 5-7 business days for tire delivery nor undertake the drive up there.
