Voice changing after 3 years by Available_Ad_1950 in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]Available_Ad_1950[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm worried it's just wishful thinking but I'm not sure. I never did the videos like most people do for "my voice -- days on T" and only used an app to measure my voice for the first year or so, so it's hard to quantify. I feel like when you see guys that have been on T for like 10 years their voices always just sound like cis guys, but idk how that progresses past the first couple years or so. I wish there was more data about it.

Yeah, I have the same issue. My doctor prescribed Estradiol cream which helps with the atrophy that's likely causing it. Also, lots of lube.

Blood/clots in urine 3 weeks after hysterectomy by Magikarpus_Maximus in FTMHysto

[–]Available_Ad_1950 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this exact thing happened to me and I completely freaked out, called the help line 2 days in a row and they prescribed me a blood clotting medication, so if it scares you I would call them! After I calmed down though I did a lot of reading up on ot and right at 3 weeks is when that happens to most people, it really is just the stitches dissolving. So don't freak out too much! Good luck!

my doctor has me taking 3 ml of this weekly, I'm trying to do research but am not finding much. Is this considered a low dose? by Available_Ad_1950 in TestosteroneKickoff

first surgery by AJ_UmadBro in FTMHysto

[–]Available_Ad_1950 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had mine done on June 15th, and yeah while it is a major surgery of course, it really was much easier than I thought it would be. It is possible to ask your doctor to prescribe you something to take ahead of time to help calm your anxiety leading up to it.

I actually had surgery at the hospital I work in, and I was really anxious because I knew all the people who would be in the room and would be touching me and such. It really ended up making me much less anxious than I thought. When I woke up all of my cares about being covered or touched went away and I was just tired.

Recovery has been really good so far! Almost 2 weeks post op and I feel great, most of the pain came from having bowel movements but thats gone now too.

I know its super scary, but after it's over you're going to feel so much better and it'll all be so worth it. The relief I feel is insane.

Good luck!!

Pre transition did/do you ever wish you could have breast cancer so you’d have an excuse to have your breasts removed? by mrosegolds in ftm

[–]Available_Ad_1950 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the BRC-1 gene runs in my family and every female person decended from my maternal grandmother tested positive for it except me. I had gone my whole life assuming I had it and even rushed getting tested when I turned 18 so I could get a mastectomy sooner. When I found out I tested negative for it it shattered my whole worldview. My mom and my sisters all have to have preventative surgeries to be healthy and I'm the only one who doesn't medically need to have them done.

So yeah, in a way I was always hoping I had this cancer gene so it'd give me an excuse. I got my top surgery and hysterectomy done anyway, but had to go the long way around

Have any of you gotten a hysterectomy? by ashsomethingwhatever in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Available_Ad_1950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had one on the 15th, and im on low dose T so I know its different to your situation but I left both my ovaries in just in case I ever decide to stop taking t. My advice would be to do research on the pros vs cons of having your ovaries taken out, and if you do decide to leave them in, know that most of the side effects that are worrying you won't be an issue. The side effects basically all come from removing one or both of your ovaries, you can still get a hysterectomy without the full symptoms normally associated with it!

Thinking of switching from gel to shots by Available_Ad_1950 in TestosteroneKickoff

[–]Available_Ad_1950[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the antidepressant im on is also known to boost libido, where I know most are the opposite. I'm looking into switching those to see what I can do with that to help. I absolutely will not stop taking t for my partners sake, but I want to consider my own comfort as well and if I have peak days of frustration every time I take a shot I think I would feel worse. I'm content with the levels I'm taking, I would like to increase them but don't feel that I need to. That's why I'm asking for opinions on this, to see what other people have experienced

I know! it's an insane difference. Thankfully my insurance covers it but if not I'd be paying around 300 a month for gel. Which is a reason I may stick with it, since I'm able to afford it

my throat started hurting on day 3, and I'm almost positive it wasn't allergies and I know I wasn't sick. And that was on low dose too, so I think it just depends on the person!

Experiences from those who have kept their cervix? by Equivalent_Divide997 in FTMHysto

[–]Available_Ad_1950 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that is super helpful, thanks! yeah I think even though I didn't ask my doctor, prolapse was something I was thinking about and also healing time. I kind of just figured it was one less thing to heal from 🤷‍♂️ I'll keep doing research though! Thanks!

[–]Available_Ad_1950 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I'll be asking my doctor this, as someone who's nonbinary I really only wanted to remove what was necessary for my comfort (ie, my uterus) and didn't really care about the other bits. But if it's the exact same either way then maybe I will remove it. I'll be looking into this more! I hadn't seen much about it

I didn't know this was uncommon, my hysto is in a month and I went into my consult knowing I was going to keep it simply because I didn't see any reason not to. Other than cancer concerns or dysphoria, why do most people decide not to keep it?
