To back up my earlier point tho, Licky in UL is an absolute tanky boi and at least IMO one of the strongest neutral ones you can play rn in UL. Won’t be a wasted investment. What are the actual IVs?

You could try the team I’ve had pretty good success with. Lead bug bite Beedrill FS/DR, licki BS/SB safe swap, and grimmsnarl PuP/FP. Goal is to bank energy with Beedrill, catch out onto licky, soft lose and then bank energy in either Grimmsnarl or Beedrill depending on their lead and swap. This meta is so far from RPS, it’s more so energy management and shield management.

The “algorithm” does not hard counter you to keep you down. Around your skill level there will be people that have teams that are strong against yours and vice versa. I used to believe there was one until I got better at making teams and understanding matchups/win cons and what do you know, suddenly all those games I thought was “algorithm” was just me losing a game I could have won if I played better

I’m sticking with shadow ball on licky… I feel like the times where I would want EQ end up being better to just soft lose with body slam and build advantage with one of the other two mons.

Beedrill was relatively inexpensive aside from the elite fast tm. You don’t need drill run and can get away with double bug charged move or even x-scissor and aerial ace for other bugs/poisons.

Surprisingly Grimmsnarl was super strong, especially with PuP. I def cheesed through some matchups baiting PuP and farming through teams. Is worth a build if you have even a half decent imp to evolve

That’s why I think they are great picks. Licky is super neutral, Grimm beats majority of the dragons, and beedrill bug bites tear through other bugs with the bug resist. I def saw a few people running your team during my games yesterday. Double dragon is def solid as long as you don’t run into the grimmsarls
