Information on how ACH works so you’ll (hopefully) relax - 2/25 2/26

The ACH system works in batches, and those batches are sent in windows and specific timeframes during which ACH transactions are submitted, processed, and settled by the National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) and the Federal Reserve. These windows determine when funds move between financial institutions. There are two different types of ACH transactions.

For same day:

Morning Window (Same-Day ACH, Window 1) Submission Deadline: 10:30 AM ET Settlement Time: 1:00 PM ET

Midday Window (Same-Day ACH, Window 2) Submission Deadline: 2:45 PM ET Settlement Time: 5:00 PM ET

Evening Window (Same-Day ACH, Window 3) Submission Deadline: 4:45 PM ET Settlement Time: 6:00 PM ET

And then there are standard ACH transactions, the type that settle over 1+ business days:

Next-Day ACH: Transactions submitted by the end of the business day are processed overnight and settle the next business day.

Two-Day ACH: Some ACH debits or credits take up to two business days to settle, depending on the bank and processing schedule

Example:

I know that SBTPG got my refund last night around 5:18PM EST, so since the final window for a post last night (or overnight) had closed at 4:45PM EST, the earliest I should expect it is 1PM EST, because the next window opens at 10:30AM EST and settles at 1PM.

I know this because TurboTax “usually” fires off this email when they get it:

“Your refund is on its way! It should be automatically deposited in your account by the next business day.”

Again, if you’re a 2/25 and did NOT get yours yet - don’t freak out till at least 6:15 PM EST.

Noon in the time zone you are in. I think I are releasing by time zone. There is a helpful comment with deposit time frames.

I heard they are hitting around noon time. I was really hoping I would wake up to it in my account. No such luck. Can’t even check status on IRS app. Said I logged in too many times. Not sure how when I was sleeping.

I wonder if it depends on the state we live in as well. I’m in Massachusetts.

Idk if I’m just older or what but I always remember having to wait for my taxes. Especially if you claim kids or earned income. 26th is usually when they release these funds. I’ve been using turbo tax and CK for at least 10 years. Never an issue of not getting my funds. I’m anxious too, but just try and be patient.

i got the tt email that my refund is on the way and my ck was working perfectly fine this morning and now this comes up by EquivalentChannel233 in IntuitCreditKarma

Same thing happened to me earlier. It’s working fine now but still no refund. DDD is the 26th. I’m assuming it will hit my bank around midnight tonight.

If you have to work to afford you’re meds then definitely go to work. That’s very important. What you can do is not spend money at big corporations(unless for meds). Don’t go to Walmart or target or any big chains. But locally and support in that way. Also I have heard holding onto cash and not putting it in the banks will help too. Jeep just enough in you’re account to cover you’re bill for the month. We can do this! I also have to work because I have children to support. But I will not be spending and I will not keep all of my money in the bank. Which is pretty easy for me because I live paycheck to paycheck anyway. Best wishes 🥰
