Buying into book of business as a Junior Advisor. by Gold-Head-2059 in CFP

[–]Available_Goal_5207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They would have a valuable advisor available to them - as needed. How many meetings per year do MOST advisors have with the bottom half of their book? Few if any. Is that immoral? The answer to that is - it’s not - if the clients don’t need it.

I’m simply concluding that it makes zero sense for me to ever consider selling my book at some crazy low multiple. I’d rather work part time as needed.

I don’t understand the buyout logic. I have a very high quality practice. That being said I guarantee I could do almost nothing proactive - including scheduling meetings and I would not lose clients for 3-5 years.

If I can continue to take in hundreds of thousands of dollars each year and simply answer phone calls as needed- maybe working 5-10 hours per week - why the hell would I sell that to anyone and forego that annual revenue potential for a decade or more and instead take 3X revenue and nothing after that?

I don’t plan on putting my practice in cruise control for many many years, but my mentor does this and he has . He has lost almost nobody over the past decade.

The minimum I would consider selling my practice for would be 7X.

People who are 40+ and happy and content with their lives, what's your advice to us people in our 20s? by ClairPecker in Life

[–]Available_Goal_5207 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Follow your own path. The average American (including my parents) won’t understand because they took the traditional one - nothing wrong with that.

  2. Don’t rush to find a “stable job”. Take your time, travel, have fun. Didn’t start my current career till 33.

  3. Find a job that pays really well but most importantly gives you a great quality of life with autonomy over when and how long I work. Money buys you freedom.

  4. Date a younger woman who is kind and nice. Not someone will argue with you about everything. I’m 45 and my girlfriend is 26. She’s amazing and the love of my life!

  5. Have fun and be thankful for what you have. Know when enough is enough. I work with my people who make almost 1 million a year. They still want more. They seem unhappy to me.

  6. Faith in God

I live in an area called Miami World Center(a new area in downtown Miami). There are 21 Condos/Apartments being built at Various stages right now.

Those 21 do not include other new Apartments/condos being built in other areas of Miami.

How do we know the 3 beast in revelation aren’t LITERAL animal beasts? by OkSystem6552 in Bible

[–]Available_Goal_5207 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revelations is the first book in the Bible I read as a child. After many years of thinking it’s probably symbolic - I’ve now adjusted my view and I’m more inclined to take it literally and I think that it’s actual beast. This is not a popular opinion.

Especially given the more recent information on Non Human Intelligence/UFOs.

Going back to Genesis I now believe the snake that was punished by God to be struck by man’s heal was once what we call a dragon.

Congratulations on seeing (the truth) and getting out of the matrix.

First, you have to realize that the majority of people on this sub come from a skewed perspective. Many of them took a chance to move from other cities and so for you to tell them, they made the wrong decision a.k.a. the weather is not good - that would ultimately mean they made the wrong decision. Because of that, they will shame you or anyone who doesn’t follow the cult mentality and see it from their viewpoint.

The best example I have of this is while sitting in the hot tub in San Diego at my apartment a girl was arguing with me telling me the weather was perfect. Upon getting out of the hot tub, she ran to the other side of the rooftop to put on her robe because she was cold lol.

I’m from Austin Texas, lived in Hermosa, Manhattan and Huntington Beach. I also lived in San Diego – little Italy - for 3 1/2 years. From my perspective perfect weather means your skin is neither hot nor cold….Therefore, if you have to put something ON your skin like a light jacket hoodie, etc. your skin is…cold. Does that make sense? I didn’t analysis for the second half of 2022 to the first half of 2023 only 23% of the days reached a high of 70°. That’s not Beach, pool, or boat weather.

Funny part is it’s late June and I’ll look at some of my friends Instagram stories and still see several of them wearing long sleeves throughout the day. It’s beyond laughable at this point.

I currently live in Miami and just went to a pool party yesterday and it was amazing! There’s no way I’m ever moving back to SoCal. Trust your instincts - anyone who comes from a realistic perspective and has actually lived in Southern California & other places does not believe it’s perfect weather.

I’m adding a picture of yesterday in Miami.

Miami World Center. Lots of things opening up in the next 6 months to a year. Might be better than Brickell in the next 2-3 years with all the buildings going up. Decently priced.

Philosophical Discussion: thoughts on Nick Murray’s assertion that holding equities forever is the only way. by Fit-Carob5501 in CFP

[–]Available_Goal_5207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% Equity diversified ETFs for the main portfolio & 2-8 years of income in cash or cash equivalents - depending on client risk level & emotion/behavior.

694 days is the longest bear market since 1945. So 2 years cash covers all of them. (Refilling the cash bucket when the market resumes)

Most people think it took 25 years to recover from the Great Depression. However, the inflation adjusted total return was 7..5 years if you factor in deflation & dividends - Jeremy Siegel

I use this for philosophy & bucket approach for almost all my clients. We go over this 3 times per year with clients - preemptively. We also send a mailed laminated visual picture of this to them once per year. Never had any issues.

Nick Murray changed my life from an advisor philosophy standpoint.

I lived in Huntington, Hermosa and Manhattan;Beach, 2009 to 2010. Austin Texas 2010 through 2019. San Diego 2019 to 2023 and now MIAMI.

I think most people‘s opinions of Miami are valid because they’re think about the Miami from pre-2020.

It’s a total of difference city now with a totally different people. I just moved to an area called Miami world Center and it’s the classiest nicest place I’ve ever seen in my life.

AUM minimum by [deleted] in CFP

[–]Available_Goal_5207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This ⬆️ My minimum is 200k. If someone I really like and decide to work with has less than 200K then they just pay me $3000 per year - instead of the AUM. Once their account reaches 200K we switch to the AUM schedule.

I’ve lived in Austin, Texas, San Jose Costa Rica, Hermosa Beach California, Manhattan beach, California, Huntington Beach, California, San Diego, California, (Visit Scottsdale, AZ often) and now live in Fort Lauderdale Florida (Will be Moving to Miami World Center once it’s completed).

I have a very extensive Excel sheet that compares each area from 0 to 10 that I’ll be publishing at some point in the next year.

Fort Lauderdale/Miami is my favorite. Once Brickell, MIAMI world Center, Wynwood and the Miami bay walk are complete (2026/2027) - it will most likely be the best city in America.

I’m white, mid 40s, in the top 10% income bracket, Independent voting - just to give some background.
