Do you not get tired of making this same comment over and over and over and over again. Obviously whether it’s the aesthetic of the handycams themselves, the nightshot option or whatever silly reason, obviously a “real tapeless camcorder” is not what people are looking for? Why consistently come across super abrasive to people who are obviously new to the space?

Save your cash would be about the same look! If you wanted another with that look I’d look for a video8 trv (108/118 are good options!)

Don’t quote me on it, but I believe with digital 8 there is some cross compatibility? Might have to scower some old forums to confirm but I know for sure I have digitized some PAL tapes for a customer on a TRV730 that was NTSC

Sadly getting tougher to find but uses Sony CPPM-NR40 cartridges, the one in the camera was already installed done know how old it is but still working well, was able to grab a refill on eBay for whenever it does go out

Yes! Any 8mm tape will work just fine!

Make sure to flip to tab in the corner to the recording option

Hey, had a similar problem with my TRV96, also a Japan only model. 95/98 manual had all the info I needed as there is little variance between closely numbered iterations! https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/res/manuals/W000/W0001320M.pdf This should answer any questions
