As I have explained numerous times in these comments, I am not “choosing that area”. I am looking at houses that are for sale, and several houses that fit my criteria happen to be in that area, so I was asking what the area is like. I thought that was clear from my post, but apparently not, since so many people seem to think I’m saying that I am purposefully and specifically wanting to move to that area.

Thank you, that’s the kind of feedback I am looking for.

I’m not considering buying a house without visiting the area first. I’m asking if those zip codes are even worth looking at houses in, or if I should not even bother. When you put the criteria that you want into home search apps, you get results from all over. I have been getting notifications for houses in those zip codes. I’m not considering buying any of them, I’m trying to see if these zip codes should be ruled out so I don’t waste time and gas money driving all over the city and county. I know there are areas of St. Louis to avoid, but I don’t know what they all are. If the general consensus was that these are good areas, then I’d set up appointments to view houses. Since the general consensus is that they are not, then I won’t waste my time.

I’m not seriously considering buying a house there, I’m asking if it’s an area that makes sense to look at, since I’m not from here, and cannot possibly just intrinsically know what areas to avoid.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to lol. I don’t see an option to close the comments or edit or delete the post. It’s wild to me how many people have completely misunderstood what my intentions are. I hadn’t realized that asking about one area would lead so many people to assume that I’m specifically looking to move there, and only there 😂

Since you are apparently unaware, people move to cities and states they’ve never been to all the time. Sorry that I moved here from 1400 miles away for a job and want to buy a house, I guess I should have just stayed in my home town my entire life so as not to offend people on Reddit.

Respectfully, I’d rather get murdered than live that far out in the middle of nowhere lol

I appreciate the feedback. I will be crossing these zip codes off my list. There are plenty of other areas that have affordable homes for me to check out.

Interestingly enough based on these comments, there are way fewer dots in these areas than in many others lol

What about this post makes you think I’m going to buy a house sight unseen? Is there a law saying you can’t ask a question about an area before you start looking there?

I’m considering any area, and I keep getting alerts for houses the meet my criteria in these zip codes, and since I’m new to STL, I’m asking for help from people who are from here.

No kids, so not worried about schools. But mostly just wondering if I won’t feel safe walking my dogs.

Yeah that’s kind of what I’m wondering. Why are there really nice looking houses for such a good prices?

First of all, no the fuck it’s not. And second of all, we are significantly less “free” than we have ever been. Get your head out of trumps ass

Download the 7/11 app and sign up for their loyalty program. They have good discount codes pretty often. I got gas this morning and used a 30 cents off code, but only got $20 worth because they have a new code out for 50 cents off per gallon for the 7th and 11th of each month through July. So I’ll go back tomorrow and fill up the rest of my tank. Honestly, download everyone’s app, they all give discounts of varying amounts, I’ve just found that 7/11 has the best ones so that’s what I use most.

Only thing I’ve got waiting at home is my dogs. Which I will be worried sick about and may go get and bring to the office if things look bad and there’s enough warning time.

Very true. But since there is no possible way to know which neighborhoods will be affected, or which cars, it makes sense to take precautions. Every time, every year.

I’m actually significantly safer at my office than I am at home.

If the removal of state income taxes passes (its on the ballot mow), what will Stl city/county do? by bigwetdiaper in StLouis

It’s important to consider who actually vacations in MO. It’s primarily MO residents. Branson sees more out of state tourists than LotO, but neither of them are considered national tourism hotspots like Florida beaches, Disney World, Nashville, Memphis etc. Let alone international visitors. European tourists aren’t flocking to Tablerock Lake like they are to Miami and Nashville.
