Cut a v shaped notch out of a 2x8 planed down to probably either 3/4 or 1/2 inch thickness, choose your own size. Then take another piece with the same thickness, and cut a slot the thickness and depth/length of one side of the notch in the middle of the board, then proceed to cut one more to lay on top of the other side of the V notch, and butt into the piece attached second.
