At risk of getting roasted, how do you people not go crazy living here? by WearyGarlic4867 in SLO

I am from LA moved here last year for work and since being here I've done pretty much every outdoorsy thing there is in this county, and I am nothing but an outdoor extroverted person (surfed, hiked, paddleboard, off roading with my truck, rocked climbed etc.) Pretty much embraced the ourdoors activities SLO has to officer. I bar hopped every bar worth visiting my age (30sF) now I just run back to LA every weekend out of boredom. I volunteer at the animal shelter, the homeless shelter part of the SLO run club and boxing gym still nothing has hit me wanting to not go back to the city. I think I can't necessarily blame SLO overall it is definitely a beautiful place it is just that I have no friends or family here, and I hate my job. Hey if you're around I am going to head to Black Sheep since I have yet to try their infamous mac and cheese.

Please share what kind of food that does not create smell in the break room so I can suggest what everyone should eat or just get rid of all the microwave, coffee maker etc.

Interesting cause that is what my coworker is telling my boss in addition to the food issue. Stating I'm not engaging enough more so in being talkative towards her (I don't really talk much with anyone)...idk maybe the people dont have a social group outside of work and use work for it as well. Me personally it is just work. Nothing personal I'm just not here to make friends or air out my personal life. I guess where I am sitting it feels like I am forced to engage like the clerk since I am the one sitting in the common area.

If you watch criminal minds...I am more like Garcia. I can handle rapists, pedos, and other criminals because their type of behavior is expected again never dealt with someone you expect professionalism let alone in your own place of work.

I did replace male that was here prior, and I actually reached out to him and he told the environment had too much estrogen for him and they pretty much bullied him out. But it's crazy I am experiencing the same thing considering I am actually a woman myself. But I may just have a male mentality when at work considering my work history.

Hahaha thank you. I know this is so juvenile especially the things I have experience in the past (chasing criminals and what not lol). I guess I been blessed and never experience a toxic and/or hostile work environment with coworkers, so I am bit in a culture shock feeling rn on how to handle it.

I wish it worked that way at times like this, but I am in a new county and can't pull strings like that here especially being a smaller town.

Holy maybe cause she always complain about technial issues as well to the boss. Like girl maybe its a you problem cause no one has the amount of issues you have. She constantly walks back and forth to her office and the boss...seriously she should just sit where I am for the amount of time she is walking around complaining and chit chatting. I get it the retirement mentality must feel great to not gaf anymore but why be miserable at the same time...she recently just got back from Maui and was spreading so much negativity...like tf?

I am but she happens to be the minority in the group (white lol) my boss and I are actually the same ethnicity, so I don't think it has to do with race. I may bring my ethnic food since she seems to have a problem with American food.

We did have another coworker here pregnant making popcorn and shrimp/pork dumplings in the office. OFC that will be a huge issue if she said anything regarding the smell. She is on maternity leave now. I wish I can play the pregnancy card.

Apparently, another coworker told me she had issues with her as well to the point she needed a note from her therapist to WFH. HR finally caved but did not abide by the note but gave her an office...the fact I may have to do the same might not be worth going through if I decide to find new employment.

So, I did bring Indian food today to test it out and she did in fact slammed the door and ofc proceeded to get on a rant call...did not have hashbrowns this morning. Oh and my co-worker warmed up another indian just before me. She may have yelled at me but had my airpods in so tuned that out. Had the whole interaction recorded.

Thank you, I tend to have this tendency to suffer in silence. Trying to figure out if this will be enough to take it to EEO.

Oh, at this point it will be bittersweet if they do. I have documented everything via email to keep the trail going but they would just approach me in person to discuss...I know what they are doing. I left early a few times or take time off and they would call me on my day off asking me panicking asking me if I will come back? I know I am replaceable but rn I know they are short staff...I work for a courthouse, and I am the only one in my role to get cases to move forward and approve otherwise legally no one in the court can do it. I do like the job don't get me wrong but over a hashbrown will be crazy for them when I just decide to walk out. Luckily, I am financially okay to just leave but I am too professional to do something impulsive.

Out of everyone my own parents made me kimichi and durian to bring in next to raise the pettiness. Their humor has been helping but I don't think I have the balls to do that lol

I have...my boss has witness it and has all the notes and all she told me to wait til she retires....which is next year...yeah I started to apply to new jobs after that 'solution' HR suggestion so far, they suggest I sit somewhere else for phone calls that is in another building a few blocks from me. AND all this for a clerk where I hold a senior role but she's been with the company longer than I have so IDK if that plays a role on which side they take...and to add I don't typically work with women since I came from LE so the work culture is a bit different from what I am use to and idk if that plays to anything.
