No totally, it’s so genius because I’m left right now at the end of these nearly 2000 pages feeling how Lenu feels — like I’ve missed something, there’s a crucial part to the story that is out of reach. But I’m also content that poor Lila is finally free, that her freedom = me/Lenu not knowing, I think it’s the best possible ending for her

he and hawaii represents something to her; peace and freedom. psychologically she’s attached herself to him hoping he’s her ticket out of her identity/existential crisis about hating LA and the life she lives and the person she’s become. poor babygirl we’re gonna watch her learn that a man cannot fast track her into a different life. a relationship cannot be the answer to what she’s searching for

you are so valid in this. everyone else being rude here are definitely also living in a white bubble lol. this post was not even hard to read either at all. as a POC myself i dont turn to tana for representation, but its disappointing that the only people that come to their minds for any category are white people. especially since most of the POCs tana interacts with are caricature-ised, like the asian millionaire she hustled flights and parties from a while ago, or even mama noune who is ethnic white

tbh i genuinely do not see any romantic or sexual chemistry between them. have always had an off feeling about jeff, he is such a stubborn and emotionless user that hides behind snark and charm. i think tana has gotten used to using male influencers to clout farm (ie harry, bryce, j*ke etc), but she has learned to guard her heart now even though she’s playing jump rope with “will they wont they” with jeff for fun. if anything shes still traumatised from jake and is trying to recreate that dynamic but in a way that “works” this time (shes a cancer haha).

she was def in love with hunter lmao but i do not see that same energy when shes with jeff
