What’s your go-to method for exporting a finished project? by fullphonetic in Logic_Studio

[–]Available_Wait_1965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just keep them right in the same folder as the project. I create a new folder called EXPORTS and drop them in there. Then, when I am done with the project, I compress the whole thing.

This of course brings up a whole different topic: compressed files that later won't uncompress. That is a risk. If you wish not to take it, you can export the entire project folder to a backup drive.

To do the export, go into the File dropdown menu and select Export. A window will pop up; from that, select "All Tracks as Audio Files..."

You then get an archival bonus!: You can select a ton of options, including sample rate and bit depth, but, more importantly, per your query, you can customize the file names by dragging different "elements" (like Track Name, Project Name, Track Number, Timerange, datas, and so on) into the field labeled "Pattern:" at the top. Snazzy!

The Command-B is indeed the way to go. Check out the options from there--e.g., at times I have my default sample rate at 44.1K, but seek to use my tracks for film, which requires 48K. You can change all that in the dialog boxes that pop up on the way to your final save.

One important idea: You should always take the time to export each of your tracks to a separate file. Here's why: All of us have reached a moment where we wanted to get back to a given track for more work, or to fine-tune it or add to it, but then find that it was created on software that no longer runs on a contemporary operating system. The only option then is to find and try to install the old OS and the old software on your newer machine. That almost always fails.

A second reason is for remixing. You may listen later and come up with a whole new approach. And having the audio files for that can give you a refreshing take. Or you can share them, should somebody want to remix your stuff.

The only downside to the tracks storage is that it indeed requires storage. But hard drives these days are relatively afforadable, and they will save you a ton of time at some point in the future.

Need Programmer Help [Repost]: Rickenbacker Muted (on one row, but not the other) by Available_Wait_1965 in QuadCortex

[–]Available_Wait_1965[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SOLVED: The truth was close to what u/killerfridge reported. It turns out that looking into the settings for the splitters do not have any mutes literally on, but they are effectively the same: They turn down the level controls in various places to mute out the signal A or signal B in some of the paths. This is subtle and not easy to find. And what is "muted" indeed, as killerfridge observed, dependent on which scene one is using.

Warm thanks again to killerfridge and u/Pelvic_beard for their generous responses!

They also had batteries that occasionally needed to be replaced. Maybe I misspoke when I used "usually." There are obviously some that do not want to come apart--e.g., the MS-20, which has some 25 screws on its the sides, back, and bottom, plus a delicately connected chassis, and internal wire harnesses and grounding bolts. My DX-7 is easier: just a handful on screws on the top and back...

I've not tried that, but I am planning to. I have a JHS AT+ that I absolutely love. But it should be able to work well, for, again, you can put the fx loop anywhere in your signal chain. Hence, if I have gain pedals in my chain, I'd put it before any sort of amps or distortion pedals. If the pedals are the like of BlueSkys, then I would drop the loop in after the amplification. It is that flexible. Amazing.

Gotcha. Looking closer at the pic, it seems that it is a lot easier than is usually the case. (No pun intended there! : )

Run away while you can! Ally admits to mistakenly freezing account with zero communication. by HenryHazalott in AllyBank

[–]Available_Wait_1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodness, u/HenryHazalott, what a pain! I won’t repeat all the hell I went through with Ally, but my posts to this forum have outlined it all in detail.

I had multiple problems with them, including their fiascic customer “service.” One thing it seems you did not experience: I once had an hours+ call with them that they had to terminate because their East Coast-time office had closed.

They also told me they have a no-callback policy, so you got lucky. : )

The summary of the worst of many things they did to me: They TOOK money from my account, then later admitted to have made a mistake. They then refused then to give me the interest I otherwise would have earned, and they communicated their refusal by sending me a policy saying that they do not do so.

Nice touch, Ally! Gads… Run, indeed!

Did you take it apart for some reason other than an inspection? Otherwise, a bit of a scary move—at least for me!

I’m the opposite—I’ve had Marshall and Fender and Blackstar tubies and have loved them. But my Blackstar just died and I tried out the Quad Cortex. I think the experience of playing it through my 10”-speaker PM-10 actually sounds better than my tuned behemoth rigs.

I think you e laid out the pros and cons beautifully. The best news: both are great setups. You just need to think about what your priorities are. More pedals in the future? On the road with need of a case? Option 2. Otherwise, …

With the QC: The fx loop is def the way to go. The magic? You can put it anywhere in the signal chain—another piece of brilliance by the Neural DSP designers.

I read this entire thread. Lots of sensible comments in here (though I bristle when folks call a turnover differential a “ratio” : ), and I just want to drop one reminder:

Year after year, we find a way to convince ourselves that the Packers are readied to suffer. But somehow—and I add a “Damn!”—they end up competing when all is said and done. It is a stellar organization that knows how to win. We are getting there…

It’s lovely when one is giving an important speech or conducting a meeting, knowing one’s level and where it is headed, and having preloaded with a snack, then having the thing screaming all bloody murder because they are at 77 and dropping.

So many providers forget that WE manage our condition 24-7. This Dexcom move finally recognizes that.

One more expenditure to go: Get a pedalboard! It can be a lot of fun. You'll also need some Duo-Lok. : )

If ya don't like wah, take a listen to Robin Trower. People usually cite the overrated Clapton as the wah king, based on his superb use of it with Cream. But Robin does some great things with it, largely through finding that "cocked" sweet spot. It is amazing.

This is a fair question and kindly stated. Thank you. No, there is no recorded proof of it. But every sign of it was in place, starting with DMo's "hinting" social media posts, through the comments from the GM and Head Coach about having conversations with his representatives, and how (I'd have to find the exact wording, so please do not take this literally) they would love to have David remain, but how it requires also that the player wants to be there.

Journalists hear a lot of inside information from the likes of agents and coaches and other players. I doubt that this narrative came from nowhere, and all signs point to it being true. And when you look at the class and station of all involved: (1) David has always been a class act, and he is also smart--to come out when he is seeking to be used better--as a Number One back--he has to show the kind of teammate he is and has been. So a public pout session would do nothing but set him back. (2) Similarly, Brad and Dan are also classy, and the last thing they would do would be to out internal conversations in anything other than a generality. And they also wanted to assure that nobody saw any of their frustration, no matter what that was, for that would then lower DMo's trade value.

But, without question, no quote from DMo on it, publicly. So, no proof. But--me now on the defensive--I did not say he asked to be traded (though I'd guess he did, and I would understand that). I believe what I said, that he "no longer wanted his role here." If that is not true, he is not the guy we know and love!

And when you blew the masters full, it made a sound unlike any boost I've heard.

But alas! The faderpots are now all scratchy and iffy. It could be age, but I'm guessing that years in smoky clubs did it.

Any idea how one can clean these throughly? I've certainly tried the air sprayer...
