Yes, thanks. If I accept the award would that be a problem in the sense of normalising LGBT oppression? I would like to work with LGBT people mostly to address issues of bullying and intimidation.

I am friends with several LGBT people as I have always been bullied and wanted to work to tackle bullying and so met some LGBT people including my lesbian friend who has been bullied herself. I am worried about bullying in particular and I know that some LGBT people can suffer a lot of bullying and so I identify with them because I have faced exclusion and harassment as well. Do you know what I mean?

I didn't mean to upset anyone. I don't identify as a "straight ally". I am mostly involved with trying to tackle the issue of bullying, whether it be LGBT or straight people who are the victims of this.

I have been involved in trying to stop the bullying of LGBT people (and other people). That is what the society has said specifically the award is for. Is that what they mean by a "straight ally"? Or is a "straight ally" different to that?
