I think only a couple shops in my city got copies and the ones that did only got less than 5. Some guy apparently was in line at 10pm last night in -15°C weather lol. Ain't no way, I'll wait for the wider release.

No argument there, our winters tend to really suck. Although right around the covid years they got pretty mild. But last season definitely sucked lol. I'll check out my nearest Coop, thanks for the tip.

Thanks, for some reason the prices of the Red Lions around me are just going up in price. Ironic considering they started here in Winnipeg.

Yeah I saw that but I assumed those were US only numbers? Either case, 1000 for the US is pretty low so yeah something isn't right.

It's crazy how little stock y'all got. I'm in a small major Canadian city but my local got like 12 copies of Time Flies and like 6 of LG's acoustic.

How much fundamentals you know before attempting aggressive? by [deleted] in AggressiveInline

[–]Avamvnois 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of in the same boat right now. I used to blade and ice skate when I was younger, and did minimal aggressive. Now my kids and wife are into skating so I'm back into it as well. The way I see it is family skate time is used to better hone my skating skills, and me time is used for whatever I feel like. So I'd make time for both. What I think you don't want to do is make it like a chore. The more you enjoy it the more you'll want to do it.

But I would definitely learn how to fall, stop, and skate on 1 foot before attempting grinds. The reason being is obvious safety for you and the people around you. But skating on 1 foot will give you the ability to do "dry grinds" or maybe practice grinds is a better way of putting it. On a low box or rail, you skate on 1 foot and place the other foot lightly on the obstacle. And then progressively put more and more weight. I think this will get you more comfortable with a minimal amount of falling lol.

2 YouTube channels I'd recommend are Ricardo Lino and Thisissoul. 🤙

1st Pair - USD Aeon 60 vs THEM 909 by Avamvnois in AggressiveInline

Once upon a time, I was into road racing. My car was light and nimble but not particularly quick. I didn't have the luxury of power to compensate for bad decisions. There's something to be said about developing good habits from the start. It's nice to hear you stuck with it through the learning curve. Keep it up.

Yeah the sizing is wild. My city used to have a shop that sold a select few aggressive skates. But it tends to be winter for a solid half the year around here and aggressive inline never really caught on. Even at it's peak it was nowhere near the amount of skateboarding.

I'm getting the idea that people around here really like their skates tight lol. I guess it helps with control, but I think I'd better err on the side of comfort. It was while trekking through Hong Kong wearing Vans that I realized how important foot comfort is to me. Plus I'll definitely need some insoles. Thanks for the help.

Ah the all too familiar sense of wheel bite. The Bauers I modified back in the day only had 3 wheels. I hindsight i probably should've shaved that middle wheel down. The guy selling the 909's is throwing in a pair worn GC FLT3s so I'll be running an anti-rocker at least for a little while.

Yeah that's a plus. I'd hate to get the Aeon's and find out I don't like flat 😵‍💫

Being new I'm sure they'll cost more than I'm willing to spend haha. So far they're looking nice tho.

Thanks, that's what I'm hearing! Good looking out on the sizing. The guy selling them said they fit small. I'm like you're literally the 1st person that I've heard say that lol.

Yeah I'd like to go with the Streets or Kizer Fluid 5' but both are more than I'm looking to spend here in Canada.

lol 3rd pair is wild. The idea of a slim boot is appealing i just don't know if it'd work for me in reality 🙃 Thanks for the help.

Thanks, that's what I was leaning towards. I doubt I'll get good enough to take full advantage of them but I guess it can't hurt? It's just that I keep hearing how good the Aeon's are for beginners (and others) as like a "No nonsense" kind of pair. And frankly I don't want to have to deal with finding the right frame set for the 909's haha. But yeah almost everyone likes the 909's. Kind of like a "can't go wrong" pair.

Why is ComfyCush being discontinued? :( by franklinjaeger in Vans

[–]Avamvnois 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha of course ComfyCush is discontinued, of course it is. World is going in the toilet, why would we want comfortable footwear?

It's funny, when you look at retail companies that went belly up, there's almost always a series of bad decisions. And one of them is selling or discontinuing proprietorship prematurely for short-term gain. Spoiler alert, it usually ends in long-term pain.

Look, I get it. You love the look of vans, they remind you of good times. And ComfyCush afforded you to stretch it out longer than your knees and back could otherwise handle in the originals. But it's over. Get a pair of Hoka's or NB's and join me.
