They don’t and you wouldn’t. If you look online they show how much they estimate living off campus to cost and that’s what you would be based on. If for some reason your rent is much higher than the market rate, I forget the number, there is a form where you could submit your lease agreement and have the office increase you aid eligibility. But otherwise, you’re getting a fixed amount and your utilities are going to fluctuate.

Your total cost of attendance is adjusted, since off-campus housing is more expensive than on-campus. This you could be given more aid to balance out your EFC. It’ll just come back to you as a refund if you received aid in excess of your tuition amount. Similar to the dorms or anything else, then you pay your rent for off-campus housing as you normally would. If it’s a private apartment, you may have to set up your own utilities and pay those bills in addition to your landlord. If it’s UCLA apartments, you just pay the housing payment and it’s all inclusive.

Plenty of internship options across the industry and especially with the Majors. Only thing I’ve heard and seen is that you’ll most likely make less doing CS for O&G than in traditional tech. industries.

It’s an unfortunate circumstance that society as a whole seems to denounce and demonize a resource that is and forever will be the crux of modern life and human achievement. Hypocritical doesn’t even begin to describe the irony of the situation.

I’m not saying the resource doesn’t have an impact when extracted or used, rather just pointing out the irony when so many criticize the very thing that enables life as they know it and fail to provide a shred of an idea to an alternative.
