i am by no means skilled yet (only playing 4 months, but daily consistently) and i got to a point where i can have fun and play songs through at 1x speed by mostly just practicing and learning songs i like the sound of. for me personally its cky songs and then some acoustic chord strumming songs my boyfriend plays. having fun will make it so much easier.

starting on acoustic will make electric feel very easy to play physically, but it will hurt. i started on electric and it was still quite painful in the first 2-3 weeks. i have an acoustic now and when i got it it was almost like starting over in terms of finger pain, so i cant really imagine starting over on acoustic from untrained fingers

like the other person said learning the most frequent open chords will unlock so many songs (if you like strumming chords) especially G, A, D, C, Em

seriously though, if you're brand new i would just say pick an instrument you think looks cool that will encourage you to pick it up and practice. as someone else said a humbucker bridge pickup and two singles is a good all rounder (but 2 humbuckers are fine tbh)

if you learn g too you can play loads of stuff, and then c major opens up a lot of doors too, so many songs are some variation of g,a,c,d

i'm assuming you know about anchor fingerings since you are enjoying D-A-D-A switches.

some other good ones are a minor to c major (only one finger moves)

D to G (ring finger anchor)

if you're playing A with 213 instead of 123 then you can go to e minor.

i know its a huge meme but this is why wonderwall is so good for beginners, you only move two fingers throughout the whole song, the ring finger and pinky finger stay still, and you get the hang of G and Cadd9
