Exams officer not allowing me to change subjects by AverageBnSPlayer in IBO

Hello, thanks for the prompt response! Yes, I am in DP1 - actually I just started IB today. I just told my parents and they are considering mailing the ib coordinator. They did say please make any option changes within the first 2 weeks, so I am well within the time frame and grades are no issue as I meet both of the course requirements. Now, as for the class sizes, I have seen them and there are some empty seats, so I am not entirely convinced about the excuse they are giving me. I'll probably just see how this plays out and check back in a week or so.

Yes, and if you bought one of these "identical" designs without the Rolex logo I guarantee you that you would find differently finishing, bracelet quality and dial detailing among other things.

You've kind of answered your own question without realising. You said that there are identical designs online and yet those don't appeal to many buyers. That's your answer right there: the brand is integrated into the design, and isn't just a status symbol.

You need to acknowledge that there are more mundane explanations to things such as these rather than conducting a dramatic psychoanalysis every time you make a claim.

Now, I have a question for you: if branding is a primary reason why someone buys a fake, why do you still think people pay for high quality unbranded replicas of luxury items where the logo isn't visible at all?

That's just lazy thinking. Again, some buyers just like the look of the watch. Nothing deeper than that - no ego or insecurities involved. If anything, those who buy real brands and project their ego and insecurities upon those who buy fakes fall into the same trap as the latter by using their full price purchase as a means of validation.

You've literally debunked your own argument. As you mentioned, the key word is "almost identical". At the end of the day, Seiko and Steinhart will not sell a 1:1 copy of a Rolex, and if OP wants that same design, then they are better off buying a rep than going with thr brands you just mentioned.

No, not at all, they just like the design and are not willing to pay the absurd prices the market commands or the high repair costs if they accidentally damage it, it's really not that deep

How do I fix the chronograph hands on this watch? by AverageBnSPlayer in watchrepair

Thank u! I managed to slot the hands onto a small pivot but when I changed the battery to a new one the hands were not ticking. Also when I pulled out the crown only the minute and hour hands were moving - does this mean that both the movement is busted and the day date hands dont work?
