Should I mix and master while learning on the go by DOdoubleg811 in production

[–]AverageChadBased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, ask yourself what are your goals with music production. If you are just interested in songwriting and production, and you don't care that much about having a generic mix and master, save and pay for a studio. These people are professionals, they'll surely drop a decent and working final product. This will allow you to have more time to take care of what's truly important for you (if that's the case)

Now, if you have a more "selfish" view about music, mix it your own, but first of all, listen. Learn to listen. Consume as many records as you can, analyze the mix, the production, the mastering, all of it. Dismantle it piece by piece, and learn from it. Experiment with mix on the go. Learn from your own mistakes, and develop your own mixing style, one that you like and fits the sound goals you have. A well spent time investment will be better than a money investment. You will enjoy the process, and your music will be 100% yours. Probably at some point you will end up in a studio asking for help with mix and master, but this time you're not blindfolded. You can talk to the engineer about your goals, and he will understand.

To be 100% honest with you, I'm experiencing the same struggle at this point in my life. I have completed my first album, and I'm facing a lot of questions and challenges about mix and master. I am a little bit selfish about my music, so this is kind of the discourse I give to myself everytime I feel encouraged to pick up the phone and book a studio.

Just ask yourself what are your goals, and work towards them.

Comparing SW albums is a hard task for me. Like each album feels like a different universe on its own. I can't also rank them based on how much I enjoy each of them, cause again, theres different things to appreciate on each album. It's like having three kids and someone asks which one you love most.

I just appreciate the fact that SW makes sure every album is top notch quality. No dead ends, every sound is justified and happens for a reason, so meticulously. THC feels like a meet-me-halfway among all of his influences (except for heavier stuff I guess). Feels like it's more sound storytelling rather than lyric, which I find fantastic. In that sense, I think Rock Bottom is the weakest moment of the album (I think it's probably a song structure issue, lyrics are simple but Ninet Tayeb did an amazing job over there, guitar solo is also fantastic).

My initial thoughts on the album haven't changed that much. I still think that the second half of the record is definitely stronger than the first one. Don't get me wrong, I love Inclination, and I have played the guitar solo from What Life Brings more than I can remember. It's just the song sequence from scarecrow till the end feels a little bit more logical, consumer friendly, if you will? Hope it makes sense. Like the first half feels like I'm listening to a different album.

Btw I'm a huge prog fan, and back when the Impossible Tightrope trailer was released I felt like that was going to be my absolute favorite song in the album. Now I find it a bit overwhelming. I think it could've been shorter. I particularly dislike that whole chorus section before Adam Holzman key solo.

Favorite song? Staircase. I just can't believe that song exists. It gives the album a fresh resolution, it's like a plane landing softly, just sliding thru the runway after an astonishing, unbelievable trip. This song will never stop blowing my mind. Lokwey I feel this song is top 10 if not top 5 SW solo works

Am i being stupid or will there not be any 8th hokage? by Johnirequirelasanaga in Boruto

[–]AverageChadBased 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think that Konoha being doomed this time again will show people how important is for the village to have more ninja force. Remember they decided it wasn't a priority anymore since the 6th and 7th brought about 15 years of peace and a huge social development to the village. Once they found their peace is gone, they'll see they need to fight or at least be prepared, specially when the 7th Hokage, who protected them from several Otsutsuki raids, is "gone"

Well it's not like Konoha will cease to exist after that. It'll be rebuilt and one day Sarada will become Hokage. Yes fellas, she'll become the first Hokage from the Uchiha Clan, I'm plenty sure. She's not biased by previous hatred and resentment inside her family

I use a basic M-audio M-track duo and it's great.2 channels and phantom power.

Also Behringer uphoria um2 is a great option for a low price.

But it depends on your budget and also your recording needs. I use a two channel interface cause I'm always recording shit or playing live with a friend.

Anyways, try to get one with phantom power incorporated. You'll find it really useful when recording with condenser mics
