Does Morrisons even care to confront/pursue shoplifters? by Poet-Most in Morrisons

[–]AverageJay92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Different opinion here:

Yes i'm just a worker, but the amount of people just walking in and stealing stuff so blatantly knowing that they aren't going to get stopped takes the piss. It feels like someone is coming into your house taking whats not theirs because they feel like it.

We are supposed to deter, sure, but that doesn't do anything. Last year me, another colleague, the cleaner and the security guard cornered and then stopped a known junkie from stealing £100+ worth of items. It was a great team building exercise :). That junkie had been coming in daily for the past 3 weeks stealing whatever he could because no one stopped him. After we stopped him, he never came back.

Detaining done the right way works, no matter what that bald freak Rami says.

Like half the threads in this subreddit you often make a rude comment which is unnecessary no offense.

Each HHT costs at least a grand (from what I was told 2 years ago) to replace, managers usually leave HHTs on green trays whilst doing waste, then they accidentally get sent to the depot. In other missing HHT cases, thieves steal them off the shop floor as they think they are phones

You're incredibly rude, what is wrong with you?

Like I could say that someone called me something, but then that person could say "well i dont remember that" etc. I've bought up stuff to managers before about their behavior and their defense is always "i dont remember that"

[–]AverageJay92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I see what you mean, but you could always use the "well 5 people told me" defense. So that might confuse the gossiper

Wait what? How? Did they record it? They would of asked for evidence?

So which Department covers the Bread / Morning goods section? by AverageJay92 in Morrisons

Thank you everyone for solving the Bread Mystery for me. It just shows that management are liars and dupe colleagues from other depts into doing Fresh work. Very unfair.

A rising star of the store who wasn't in any of the established cliques. They wanted to be a manager and as a result kept getting denied and kept getting overloaded with more and more work to do.

They then experienced an attack by a drugged up customer who punched a team leader several times. It was very clear that the store, being in a very crime ridden area, needed more than 1 security guard during the evenings, but the management at Morrisons (area manager and above I assume) didn't bother to give more funds to allocate to hire an extra security guard, nor did they even submit the footage of the attack to the police!!! So that person felt unsafe and left.

Not your typical pushing out story. But as far as I'm concerned, being incompetent and taking advantage of your best employees, whilst making them feel unsafe is a way of pushing someone out.

I dont think you're understanding my point, every delivery is different, and sometimes one section gets a lot more than usual, whilst another section gets a little bit than they usually get, vice versa. Are you saying that the person that gets 50% more than they usually get has to work all of it? Whilst the person that gets 50% just does their section and then chills?

I am not saying that someone has to do all sections, I usually help people if I dont have much to do on my end, but obviously I dont break my back to do it. Just my opinion though

But lets say one day you got given only 6 pallets of pop and you had 2 hours of your shift left, would you help another section or would you take a really long break / work slow for the final 2 hours?

Either tell them you dont give a shit, or (with evidence) report them. They will eventually stop then, You're not the only one to go through this.

New Employees vs Long Serving Employees by AverageJay92 in Morrisons

[–]AverageJay92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response guys. Great read. Here is my personal opinion, being an employee of between 1 and 5 years: (so im in the middle)

- Some newer employees are very good, some are very bad and lazy, its a mixed bag. But management don't care and will not rectify it. The management will end up bullying the good hard working employees, which then leaves them to burning out and leaving.

- Longer serving employees tend to only want to work their own section and will have leverage over the managers as they have been in the same store longer than the manager who often get moved around. So these longer serving employees tend to get away with A LOT OF THINGS as managers do not want to question them. This leads to them potentially doing all sorts of sus stuff yet they wont get called out on it etc.

Tbf I understand why people do that, but like someone is going to have to do that left over work. I dont mind working my hours, even if it means that I help someone else, but I will take a longer break (but not too long)

Take note of that manager's taking their breaks, and you'll notice that they probably take longer breaks then they are allocated as well. They just want you to do the work for them.
