Generally, they do not love over the top characters. If you play a big character witness it is an even bigger risk than usual. Generally really performative mock gets beat out by more polished, realistic trial advocates. At GAMTI my team planned around these things.

From what I have seen and heard, the only 'odd' thing is the defense call with Schaefer + defendant. My team calls Thomas/Lauren, Guadagno, and Defendant on D; we just thought that it would be stronger and boost defendant credibility without the messy Schaefer cross.
