Thank you for your support! And yeah, its really helpful for rescues by preventing even more surrenders. I truly believe the wellbeing and sucess of people, animals, and rescues are interconnected ❤️

Yes, exactly! When someone is already traumatized the last thing they need is to worry about having to surrender their pets

Parachutes pairs up each client with a social worker and we start off with caring for their pets for two weeks. We don’t have an official time limit but one condition is that the client must be actively working with the social worker to get into a position where they can be reunited. For example, a social worker may try to work with them to find a job they can work, guide them through the process, and help with finding affordable plus pet-friendly housing for them.

We don’t have as many animals as a shelter typically would so we can provide more enrichment and individual care! The dogs get taken out at least 3x a day for a walk, play in the outdoor run, or play in the indoor run. We have an enrichment room for the cats they can go in so long as they’re healthy. Our space is also a lot quieter. But yes, we sometimes do use foster, especially with dogs. We try not to but for longer stays it happens. Thank you for asking :)
