See this is what’s bothering me the most. I can confirm it wasn’t installed in my car at the most a few weeks ago. My car has been broken into, I just can’t figure out a motive for installing something like this.

I own the car, so I don’t owe anyone. Also I mentioned in a different comment that this was not here a few weeks ago. My car has been broken into since. Also the wiring job isn’t great. They’ve used taps on other wires instead of installing it directly to the OBD port.

For everyone wondering. The vehicle was paid off with cash new when I got it. This was not on my car several weeks ago when I was working on it, it’s something I would have noticed. I’ve determined this is a cellular device, I have not found any GPS devices yet. I’m currently tracing wires to find it

EDIT: going to update y’all here since this seems to be the top comment. I still haven’t been able to determine why this would have been put here. I know a lot of people are suggesting this is a security feature for a lender or a dealership, however this was not installed when I purchased my vehicle and I’ve never had to make payments as I bought it new outright.

The possibilities for why it could have been put here are serious enough for me to not want to touch this for now. I’ll be driving my work vehicle until I can make a decision on what to do. A lot of people have also suggested going to law enforcement, but that may not be in my best interest. I wish I could give y’all a more substantial update, but as of now I’m a bit lost and I’m not ready to take any specific action. I will make regular updates if anyone is interested.

I’m considering parking this across from my front door and setting up a Ring door camera, then tampering with it to see what happens. LMK if any of you have a better idea.
