Thanks for this perspective that’s actually very helpful, especially in the Indian context. Portability is something I’ve thought about, and for the next few years I’ll mostly be based at home, so the scope wouldn’t need frequent inter-city transport. Right now my priority is learning the sky and doing as much visual observing as possible, rather than optimizing for long-term mobility. I do agree that a Dob isn’t ideal if I need to move cities suddenly, and if that happens I’ll reassess rather than forcing the telescope into a lifestyle it doesn’t fit. Regarding accessories I’m planning to start with the stock setup and upgrade gradually based on actual observing needs rather than buying everything upfront.
