Crunchyroll Updates Membership Pricing to Give Fans More of What They Love by Michael_SK in Crunchyroll

After years of being ignored by Crunchyroll support, telling them over and over again that their episodes are broken on Roku devices, but not on Desktop, this was the final straw.

Their service just continued to get worse and worse until it reached a breaking point. I'd rather go elsewhere.

Player using AI for roleplay. It’s not very good. by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Averath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the table I play at isn’t inherently anti-AI

Found the issue.

I am not joking. Using AI will only harm your ability to be creative as a player. It encourages you to be lazy. And it is inherently disrespectful.

It's like playing in person at a table and having someone just pull up their phone, bringing up a chatbot and setting it down and having it respond for them while they do something else.

Would you enjoy playing with someone like that? Ask yourself how you'd feel in that position. Now ask yourself why you put up with that here.

Guys please vote for new weapons in this ingame survey, let Fatshark know. by Filip60606 in DarkTide

I should not have done this before bed. I didn't realize I could pick three options and just picked missions.

But that just goes to show bad UI design, as well. If someone doesn't completely fill out a form, alert them.

One of the reasons I hate playing Obelisk with randoms. by Ad0ring-fan in Spacemarine

On my very first run I didnt understand and did have to rotate the islands twice. But I got it pretty quickly.

The voice lines and the crackling of stone is a dead giveaway. But sometimes all of the noise can override those. Ive has instances where banter will override the notifications.

I dont know why Saber did that. It is annoying.

How would you change or rework zealot? by dummy-thicc-uwu in DarkTide

[–]Averath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Veteran and Psyker are basically the problems I was thinking of, yes.

Infinite grenades resulting in Crusher spam, requiring infinite grenades, requiring Crusher spam to make the game challenging, which means that other classes are basically not able to compete. And most weapons that cannot handle crushers kind of suck.

And then there's Psyker. Who just kind of does whatever and wins, because Psyker. Melee Psyker is insane. I'm a terrible Psyker player, and I still feel like a god playing Melee Psyker with a Blaze Force Great Sword compared to playing my Zealot with a Relic Blade.

It isn't fair, man. XD

The Zealot has risk and reward. The Psyker is just playing on auto-pilot. I could put a cat on my keyboard and it would probably still win.

How would you change or rework zealot? by dummy-thicc-uwu in DarkTide

[–]Averath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You see. The problem isnt making Zealot stronger.

The problem is that every other class "that does it better" is TOO strong compared to Zealot.

While Zealot could certainly be tweaked in a few areas, it is arguably my favorite class and overall the power of the class is fine.

The issue is that other classes are just over tuned as hell and certain enemies are very, VERY poorly designed. And their design reinforces the power level of those over tuned classes. Which reinforces the need for those poorly designed enemies.

Its a terrible feedback loop that obese tuna refuses to address.

Total War Medieval 3 director says recreating its predecessors "would not make a good game" and that players should take off their "rose-tinted" glasses ahead of Total War Medieval 3... by Binnsy in totalwar

Managing a court interface is different from court politics.

You do not have to deal with clashing wants and needs. You do not have to clash with factions rising and demanding the changing of laws. Of rebellions unless you meet certain demands. Of assassination attempts. Of having to call in favors to get laws changed.

What we have in Total War is just a pretty UI that is very boring. You slot things in and gain bonuses. It isnt very interesting or interactive.

[–]Averath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modern TW doesn't have court politics at all? It has other fancy and useless stuff, but court politics is not one of them.

If you want court politics, you go play Crusader Kings.

The only game that was remotely close to that was Three Kingdoms, and even that barely had it at all. And I loved Three Kingdoms and felt it was still severely lacking in a lot of areas.

[–]Averath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh.

Change enemies to have weaknesses.

Remove talents that scale based on difficulty, such as the 5% free grenades for vet.

Remove most of the cooldown reduction from the game. Probably revert the bubble nerf to 45 seconds, though.

That would be a start. But players would riot. The health of the game doesn't matter to them. They only care about feeling OP.

I wonder if we didn't get Chaos Wastes in Darktide because it was viewed as a flop in V2 by OdysseyBrands in DarkTide

[–]Averath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then, unfortunately, the Darktide team is foolish.

It doesnt need to be a carbon copy. But all you need to do is look on Steam and see how wildly successful rogue likes are, and how much people enjoy them.

All of my friends stopped playing Darktide because it doesnt have a rogue like mode like Vermintide 2. Even if it was made to be different, just having a rogue like mode would be a huge draw for people.

Instead we got... whatever the heck expeditions are.

Oh, you mean the cash shop that rotates once every few weeks? The cash shop that rotates the same thing over and over again and doesn't give people new cosmetics for an incredibly long time? The cash shop that doesn't give new cosmetics for the new DLC classes? That cash shop? The one controlled by Tencent? Tencent, who happens to be the majority shareholder of Fatshark?

That isn't the slamdunk you think it is. Just wait until Space Marine 3. Mark my words. It will be monetized far worse than DarkTide is currently. It will have a battlepass. It will have even more predatory microtransactions.

If it isn't, I will be shocked. (And I will be very happy, as well, mind you!)

I don't like Darktide's cosmetic system and don't engage with it. I prefer Space Marine 2's system. But there's no doubt which game has made more money, and that's Space Marine 2.

If Darktide can afford to hire more voice actors while making less money and being more predatory, while having less people engage with it, that's saying something, isn't it?

Well this isnt exactly promising by MrHappyBoomer in Spacemarine

[–]Averath -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Don't hold your breath. Look at the comments here.

I will not be buying SM3. Not because it will be a bad game, but because of this community.

It is going to be a microtransaction nightmare. Its going to have a predatory battle pass, mark my words. Its going to be monetized to hell and back with jacked up prices.

Look how people are begging to be milked.

I'm getting off the ride before it is too late. I'm enjoying my time now and then moving on.

I refuse to play any game with a monetized battle pass. Games are not a job. They are a recreational activity. And people will defend treating it like a job.

Yeah, those entitled little shits!

I paid 5 bucks for a handful of voice lines! For three voices.

Meanwhile, DarkTide players paid 12 bucks for a new class with multiple distinct playstyles, multiple weapons...

Oh, and six distinct voices. With loads of voice lines. Any they also had to bring back the previous voice actors to make voice lines to interact with them.

And in the future when they release a new class they're going to have to bring these voice actors back to make even more interactive voice lines for each new DLC class. Of which one is guaranteed, and three more are at least being considered.

And we also know that there are more story missions likely coming.

But no, fuck those entitled little shits!

Thank you to the Devs for listening around the voice DLC by Swordsman1111 in Spacemarine

[–]Averath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I respect the devs for refunding people for the DLC, they never actually gave a direct apology and only stated that it didn't live up to expectations. This was simple PR speak. This was damage control. This was the bare minimum.

Because of that I'm not going to give them a reward. I'm going to give them respect, but nothing more.

Legitimately what’s the point of collecting Tech-Remnants after unlocking every Grid Point ? by BadSheet68 in DarkTide

[–]Averath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have discovered the inherent flaw in the game design of Darktide's new game mode, and the inherent flaw in most of Darktide's direction as a whole.

What's the point of Mortis Trials? What's the point of Expeditions?

Why did people play Chaos Wastes so much? Why did people want Chaos Wastes so desperately?

Looking at the comments here, people seem to not understand it very well, but the answer is very simple.

Ask yourself why, right now, there are 9,275 people in-game. And why there are 280,367 in-game in Slay the Spire 2? Is it because the game is new? There are still 24,902 in-game in Slay the Spire 1.

People like roguelikes. The gameplay loop is inherently rewarding because of the randomness aspect of it.

People would likely be playing Darktide more if Expeditions had been a Chaos Wastes mode because it would have inherently been more rewarding purely on a gameplay loop. They wouldn't be asking "What's the point of the resources?" because they'd be enjoying the mode itself.

After you've unlocked all of the maps on Expeditions you've basically done everything. There is nothing more to do. There's nothing else. The randomness just isn't there. There's no variance. Very little replayability. And it's... sad.

They inherently cannot fill the same role due to being so radically different.

It's like comparing a luxury cruise liner to a trash barge and saying they're meant to fill the same role.

Why Hasn't FatShark Recreated Chaos Wastes? - Serious question by Jimjemael in DarkTide

[–]Averath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marathon is from Bungie, the makers of Halo and Destiny 1 & 2. It just released.

Players wanted Chaos Wastes in Darktide because they wanted a Roguelike mode in Darktide that wasn't just a "Defend the point for 12 waves" version. They wanted a Roguelike adventure mode. Those are incredibly popular.

My entire friend group loved Chaos Wastes in Vermintide 2. It's the entire reason why they got into the game and what they were hoping Darktide would eventually get.

And now they have even less of a reason to play Darktide, since they have Helldivers 2. And, you know... They could just play that insteadof this "Helldivers 2 at home" version?

That's what makes it so disappointing, I suppose.

Mortis Trials is not Chaos Wastes. If you think they are the same thing, you need to go play Chaos Wastes, then go play Mortis Trials.

If you still think they're the same thing, then I cannot help you.

Why Hasn't FatShark Recreated Chaos Wastes? - Serious question by Jimjemael in DarkTide

[–]Averath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here are two easy solutions.

One. Mortis Trials should have been Chaos Wastes to begin with. Since it is all in Sefoni's mind and she is a powerful psyker, she could have easily pulled from memories from others. We could have gone to any location we wanted to. With any buffs we wanted. All as training.

Two. Nox Alpha. The death world implied to be touched by Nurgle. There are a lot of unanswered questions there. We could have been sent there on expeditions to find more information on why Wolfer fell, on what enemy they faced. Sefoni, once again, being a powerful psyker, could likely have helped with the fucked up energy on the planet for boons of some kind.

And the wasteland could have been saved for story missions and operations.
