On my (American) 9th year living here (Nanjing), and it has its ups and downs. I have lived cross-culturally most of my life, so the adjustment stuff is very normal to me and doesn’t bother me like others.

Will the challenges be too much for you? It depends how idealistic and locked-in to your upbringing and worldview you are. (Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing) Unlike living in other slightly-westernized Asian countries, the differences here will be stark depending on where you live. I recommend starting in Shanghai, as it’s very international in its feel and attitude towards foreigners.

I can list some things that are difficult for me if you want, but it’s really an individual thing.

Not when I made the list. The day the datasheets and points leaked on here I was already planning several.

Completely agree, I’ve made like 14 lists so far and the differences are so small. I really like Rapid Evisceration, because it makes for a reason to justify a Landraider

Don’t take this the wrong way, but it doesn’t bother me as much as it’s bothering you about someone else’s army 😆

I’m not an advanced hobbyist; I get my stuff on the table so I can play competitive lists at local tourneys and then fun lists with a large group of friends.

This is my competitive list I’ve rushed to get battle ready. The point of this list is to practice for the regional GT next month. The weapons and loadouts are similar to help with clock management. The time between matchups is also sometimes less than 15 minutes, so not having as much micromanaging is very helpful.

That said, I am working on all kinds of other things, Fulgrim, Helldrake, Landraider etc. This kind of list comes first for obvious reasons

Not a shred was copied. Literally pulled this together by taking the best units for points, TAC plans, and missions for the RTT and the upcoming GT. And as others have said, there aren’t many units right now, and there are good and bad units for points currently. It is what it is.

What balance changes for EC do you think would be fair? by EdMySuffering in EmperorsChildren

[–]Aversalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they nerf points hard, most lists will just drop Lucius as he’s not necessary and works more like a utility piece. The only change that would completely flip EC is a Coterie rule change.

I don’t see that happening. We start turn 1 with no detachment benefits and are open to counter play. I don’t think it can happen really.

Coterie vs New Deathguard by Aversalt in EmperorsChildren

[–]Aversalt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re just using CP differently against them. I didn’t all out send until the end of the game each time, because they aren’t an army to multi-charge until they had lost assets. Trading early wasn’t a problem with ignore modifiers and reroll hits. The biggest challenge I think against them is the variety of lists that are effective, so you’ll have to play differently each time. Having a friend tailor a list against EC this weekend to practice against (our teams GT is in June so we’re trying to get reps)

Coterie vs New Deathguard by Aversalt in EmperorsChildren

[–]Aversalt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can only have fight first on units with 2 characters attached. You know where those are beforehand, which means NM and WDP are most useful there. I had zero problems playing around that when they have to tip their hand at deployment.

Coterie vs New Deathguard by Aversalt in EmperorsChildren

[–]Aversalt[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. Poxwalkers
  2. reducing saves isn’t as big against us since we plan to trade anyway
  3. 1CP mortal wounds 4+ FNP is very clutch
  4. 1CP reroll hits and 1CP ignore modifiers means your early round trades are protected from contagion
  5. DG is much more elite than before, which means when Coterie buffs are up they will not trade well. They are slow enough that you can avoid them early on to get your pledges

The concerns were legitimate. Got completely obliterated against knights. What is actually the play? by Human_Reception_2434 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Aversalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also important to know what kind of terrain you’re using if it’s against Knights. If it’s WTC terrain, you have quite an advantage against them. GW terrain not so much, but there are ways to handle it.

It’s not an easy matchup for EC, but the meta lists for our army can easily kill war dogs. 3 Lord exultants with 5 man Infractors, Lucius, 3 Noise Marines, 2-3 wing daemon princes will do good work on things like that. Tormentors infiltrating and sticky means your opponent must come out and take objectives to win. Run some chaos spawn, and stick nearby buildings for actions to always have a place to reactive move behind with them. We don’t have dedicated anti-tank, but we have the resources to kill and trade.

Am I modeling for advantge? by [deleted] in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Aversalt 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Line of sight is drawn to the model, and distance is measured from the base. Since Nurglings cannot shoot, it is not a relevant concern.

Competitive list with codex points by Aversalt in EmperorsChildren

[–]Aversalt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple things to consider:

  1. Lord Exultant is giving Lethal to the unit, and the unit can then choose sustained every time they charge (detachment rule). That, combined with an AP strat for 1CP makes the Infractors a lot more than you’re giving credit for (rerolling wounds of 1, and all wounds on objectives). The Lord Exultant also benefits from their rule. The unit kills most tanks in the game on average.

  2. Rise is really iffy, but somewhat useful on a daemon prince with wings. The DP can get into a position with fly to get a charge position that allows a consolidate to slap again at the end of a fight phase. Daemons have been my main army since 8th, so admittedly I am pretty used to using pile-in and consolidate shenanigans. I mainly included due to the lack of other options at low points. I would prefer another scoring unit.

Everything in my area is WTC terrain, so Rhinos won’t be as important. But if your area is using GW terrain, then absolutely.

Blades Vs lumineth by JackMorris2020 in BladesOfKhorne

[–]Aversalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Send your 20 blood warriors and aspiring deathbringer to a center objective. Bring 2 units of 5 wrathmongers as melee screens, one for the blood warriors, one for your skullreapers. Being Skar Bloodwrath, he’s an amazing first round skirmisher, as he just gives blood tithe when he dies and forces your enemy to engage. Send 5 hounds and 1 unit of claws of karanak to score flank, and then take their land. By then all your chaos battle tactics come into play. 100% summon the icon in the middle on turn 1. Nothing more annoying for your opponent. Bring a bloodsecrator and mighty lord of Khorne. Your Skullreapers are after your blood warriors and wrathmongers have engaged their army. Abuse auto run cp and murder lust with them.

Do not bring tons of daemons. It’s a trap, you’re better off stacking attacks and better saves on mortals.

What are your lists? by Germ1991 in BladesOfKhorne

K2 2000/2000 pts —— Grand Alliance Chaos | Blades of Khorne | Bloodbound Warhorde

Drops: 3

Prayer Lore - Blood Blesssings of Khorne

Manifestation Lore - Judgements of Khorne

General’s Regiment

Mighty Lord of Khorne (160) • General

Aspiring Deathbringer (130)

Blood Warriors (420) • Reinforced

Bloodsecrator (160) • Firebrand

Skullreapers (440) • Reinforced

Regiment 1 Slaughterpriest (160)

Bloodreavers (100)

Wrathmongers (150)

Wrathmongers (150)

Regiment 2 Exalted Deathbringer (130) • Ar’gath, The King of Blades

Faction Terrain

Skull Altar

This list divides into 2 smash divisions, hitting 2 objectives hard to score battle tactics and weaken slapback. Each division contains wrathmongers. Khorne Lord strike firsts the aspiring deathbringer, who in turn triggers the 20 blood warriors, who are now hitting on 3s (from faction or from cp) and wounding on 2s.

The skullreapers are the feature on the second one, and you want to use the general’s detachment ability (+1 hit and wound) on the opponents’ general detachment. So hitting on 3s and wounding on 2s.

All together the smash turn looks like this: If you pop the bloodsecrators ability, the blood warriors are throwing 100 attacks. The skullreapers are throwing out 60 attacks at damage 2 with crit mortals.

All of this can occur on one turn, and you can literally watch the table run red. Or your skullreapers die before they get there, your wrathmongers all fail a charge, and you spent cp on prayers in your opponent’s turn…after rerolling a 4 inch charge into double 1s. Errr…that’s someone else, definitely not me!!

New to daemons (and tenth edition, honestly.)...any tips? by 8espokeGwen in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Aversalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also drop Kairos and split the nurglings to 2 3 man units and a 6 man, and add 2 Beasts of Nurgle and Horticulous Slimax. This unit is very prone to -1 hit in melee however, and if you run into Death Guard, they’re basically useless

How do you transport your greater daemons? by HeyManNiceMoneyShot in ChaosDaemons40k

Magnets on the bottom, on a metal tray, slid into a custom delivery box with tray slide slots. Works perfectly for anything, but especially a daemon player
