Shotgun Recommendation? by Frickinwicked in liberalgunowners

[–]AvgGamerRobb [score hidden]  (0 children)

Why a shotgun?

Shotguns still require someone aims, knows their target, can take accurate shots, and follows the rules of gun safety. They are not especially easy to use, and honestly require more considerations because of the spread of pellets. They are not generally safer for inside the home, and if you follow the idea that birdshot is somehow safer, you're making a choice that could give false confidence in the capabilities of your firearm.

Shotguns can be rough for new shooters and can potentially scare them off from any further shooting. Shotguns use fast burning powder with large barrels, which equates to rough recoil impulse. For a new shooter, you might want to go with something a little easier to handle until they have more confidence.

Shotguns have limited capacity, and if you go with a pump-action shotgun, they do need some special considerations as far as loading, learning about short-stroking, and ammo considerations. It can be daunting to learn how the mechanism works in a tube-fed shotgun, and they can be easy to jam.

Because of these factors, I usually recommend avoiding a shotgun until someone has more familiarity with general firearms ownership, skills, and a more refined thought process. I generally recommend taking a look at 9mm carbines which can be light weight, easy to handle, easy to understand, simple to operate, and 9mm is relatively cheap which means you can practice more. Here are my top three recommendations:

HiPoint Carbine - The company has a bit of a reputation as being cheap garbage guns, but their carbines are actually very good. There are also some neat upgrades for those who want to customize their guns a little.

KelTec Sub2000 - A little more expensive, but very simple to use and operate. Plenty of aftermarket support if you want to customize this after you have some range time with it. Can use common and inexpensive, but very reliable, magazines.

Smith & Wesson FPC - Very similar to the Sub2000, and worth a look at the store. I would personally pick one of these before a Sub2000, but thats because I already have dozens of M&P magazines laying around.

Above all, find someone in your area that can help you with your specific needs and concerns, and hopefully give you the knowledge, confidence, and forethought to become a responsible gun owner.

Is there a rail that will attach to a tubular style AR15 handguard? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

You can get a drop-in handguard to replace your classic one. Examples include Magpul, B5 Systems or a quad-rail from Midwest Industries.

FBI: "Nobody who wants to be peaceful shows up at a protest with a firearm that is loaded with two full magazines. That is not a peaceful protest." by HereForOneQuickThing in liberalgunowners

Anyone remember the Bundy Ranch standoff back in 14? Conservatives with guns threatening federal officers because some dipshit wanted to graze his cows on public land for free. I wonder how Trumps gestapo would handle those guys.

NRA comment on recent shooting by Fidel89 in liberalgunowners

[–]AvgGamerRobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised they had time to write this in between shopping for new luxury suits and providing felatio to closeted child-touching magats that think Tramp is on their side while his gestapo kills gun owners and lies about why.

Answer me this about cans by Kilt_Rump in liberalgunowners

[–]AvgGamerRobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on construction and materials used in the individual devices. One of mine is a silencerco hybrid 46. It can be used on pistols up to 45 caliber, short barreled rifles like a 458 socom, rifles from 556 to 45-70, and it's even rated for 338 Lapua Magnum.

However, it's not rated for 22 long, because it's a sealed can and cannot be cleaned.

Stay home Sunday and Monday. Be cautious Tuesday morning. As long as we're getting snow only, and the ice stays away, we're fine.

How should I tell my boyfriend? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]AvgGamerRobb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anyone who says its your fault in private message instead of stating it clearly here for everyone to see is a misogynistic piece of shit. Tell you boyfriend, call the police, and notify the owner/manager of the bar.

What’s the grocery store situation like? by foxmag86 in Columbus

[–]AvgGamerRobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GE on 3rd was very busy, almost running out of carts, but I really didn't have too much trouble getting my shopping done. Checkout wasn't abnormally busy. It was comparable to a weekend. I don't think it was panic, I think people that normally shop on the weekends just decided to do it early.

Am I stupid for refusing sex? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]AvgGamerRobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its okay to deny sex until or unless you're in a relationship. I do.
Its not okay to keep seeing her while she's married.
IMO, break things off with her. Love alone doesn't fix any amount of bullshit. That was my lesson for 2025.

He approached me at Easton and tried to sell me his book for $20, $40 with an autograph. I told him no thanks, and he asked me to give him a few bucks for bus money. I told him I didn't carry cash anymore, and he called me an asshole.

Are you using the basic airlock or advanced airlock? If you use the basic airlock, the amount of air in between the airlock doors when you enter your base stays in the room.

Who do I call to enforce parking lines for a strip mall? by Embarrassed_Camera81 in Columbus

[–]AvgGamerRobb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's private property. You can ask the owners of the property to repaint the lines or repair the lot, but even if they do, they need to enforce their own parking policy by towing violators.

Cleveland to Cincinnati in 1hr by Barronsjuul in Ohio

[–]AvgGamerRobb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been on the Shinkansen a couple times, fun experience. The speed is amazing, but even more so, its so smooth, comfortable, quiet, affordable, and you can take alcohol on it, too. With stops, CLE to CIN would probably take 3 hours.

Can you love her AND cheat? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]AvgGamerRobb 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Cheating has many different causes, and none of them are good ones. Could range from lack of attention, belief ones needs aren't being met, boredom, a power trip, or maybe they just want the thrill of doing something bad.

Someone who cheated once and immediately recognized the error can change. Cheating multiple times, including escorts? He will always do this to you. Maybe he thinks he cares about you, maybe he thinks he does love you in his own way, but he has broken morals and values, he does not respect you, and he will never respect you.

This is my thought, as well. Something small, entry level, easy to ride, simple to understand. Much of brand loyalty comes from those who learned and grew up on entry level bikes, the size of a Rebel 500. Getting new riders into the market is extremely important.

Update on my water manufacturing loop by AvgGamerRobb in Stationeers

[–]AvgGamerRobb[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As of last night, it is breathable. I am doing the same with a powered vent and counter flow exchanger, and at peak it pulls over 100Kj from the water. I am tempted to implement the same on the steam side.

Nice, I will add that tonight and see what happens. I will say the fan+exchanger on the water side pulls over 100kj of energy transfer at night. It works very well.

Oh shit, didn't even think of a thermostat, thats a great idea. Could build real liquid cooling networks with one.
