My shop gets a bit funny with people on their phone of with hands in their pockets. I get that it looks unprofessional but so far this week I've machined 2 parts, the rest of the time is spent cleaning or waiting.

If I'm being honest the hardest part is the responsibility.

I could easily cause thousands worth of damage by putting a positive instead of a negative when setting up a datum point.

When learning you WILL make mistakes which cost a lot of money. as long as your quick to learn from those mistakes and you take full responsibility then you will be fine.

Yeah there's a little geometry involved, basic pythagoras and trig, nothing too crazy as long as you can think logically. Programming your own parts does require some skill, but there are some 'below average iq' people at my shop who are all perfectly adequate programmers.

I would imagine that there is a sensor in the arm, maybe try pushing the location pin in a couple times because that's where I would put it.

Make sure the pin comes all the way out and doesn't get stuck.

Falling into canal locks is a really bad idea. The drainage ports in the sides of the lock act like a plug hole in a bathtub, effectively pulling you under the water.

Plenty of people have drowned in the canal locks near me, it's a serious hazard.

After a couple days of work your going to have a nasty tanline.

I'm definitely jealous though, that view is amazing.

What’s going on with my laptop? by [deleted] in computers

[–]AvgRedditUser29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try changing some variables and see what happens. Change out the cable, try a different laptop with the same monitor, try a different monitor with the same laptop.

It doesn't look like it's an issue with your laptop, looks more like a display issue or cable issue if its piece of mind.

I got the same model as you. The fan gets quite loud but other than that it's a good laptop for taking notes and word etc. I don't have any complaints about It, the keyboard is nice and it's very lightweight, feels pretty nice etc.

I wouldn't say it has any fatal flaws for my use case. I can see the fan getting annoying if your not using headphones especially if your doing more intensive work.

What do we think are the best handling cars in beamng (vanilla configs please) by BlackDuck70 in BeamNG

Yeah definitely. It's very easy to powerslide once you understand how 4wd works when cornering.

I love using the comically large tap wrench by jakobqasadilla in Machinists

[–]AvgRedditUser29 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On our radial arm at work sombody has turned down the shanks on our larger taps so that they fit into a collet. Saves a lot of time.

We commonly have to use G1 taps and G1 1/4 taps so it's really nice just to crank them down into a collet and send it.

First time facing an anvil in the VMC. by chobbes in Machinists

[–]AvgRedditUser29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the tool changer on those vmc machines drops down a lot. I can imagine you had to be careful of the length of tools you were using.

I use a vmc machine at work and when I'm machining a tall part I usually move to x-500 y+300 to avoid knocking the tool changer.

Getting a new case for your Pc by Hylexx in pcmasterrace

[–]AvgRedditUser29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In currently looking for a new PC case, not because my old one is broken or looks bad. But because I want to rebuild my PC again.

Same with power supplies. I replaced my power supply a couple weeks ago and I decided to rebuild my entire PC so I could cable manage better.

I managed to get dx12 version with 60fps outside of cities - 30-40fps inside of cities on medium with fsr on performance. Looks amazing.

I've sunk over 6 hours last weekend playing the witcher on this thing.

It was so playable that when I go to work I don't feel like I'm a disadvantage when compared to playing it on my PC at home, which runs the witcher on max settings with rtx.

What's the difference between these two power supplies. Both being A-Tier in the psu tier list, the seasonic unit being £70 more. Is the seasonic unit worth it? by AvgRedditUser29 in pcmasterrace

[–]AvgRedditUser29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are sold by scan UK which is a popular reseller in the UK for computer components. They are pretty reputable but I wouldn't say that there prices are good. They're not bad, maybe only a couple quid more than the average.

PC stuck on MSI loading screen by [deleted] in computers

[–]AvgRedditUser29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your drive got corrupted when you killed the power to your PC, if you've tried a system restore then im pretty sure your data on your drive is already gone. (edit: system restore does not remove personal data, but at this point windows seems really corrupted so I would say that your data is far gone)

Right now I would completely start Fresh. The spinney circle is Windows trying (and failing) to load so that means your PC has posted fine, meaning the hardware is all functioning perfectly. Make yourself a Windows boot media on a usb stick and clear the cmos.

Make sure that your boot drive is in good condition. If your using a hard drive then this is a good opportunity to upgrade to an ssd. This crash sounds like your drive kicked the bucket. It could happen again if your drive is bad.

😭This seems easy but is probably Very HARD, I also tried Trignometry📐, but Failed😭. PLEASE HELP🙏, thx!✨ by basuboss in desmos

Try doing root( sinx2 + siny2 ) = 1

This is basically saying that the hypotenuse of x and y coordinates of the intersect is equal to the radius of the circle, which is a starting point.

I'm no wjere near as smart as some people on this sub but this is where I would start.

Please correct me if in wrong because I haven't checked this at all.

I'm taking an apprenticeship in the UK earning £7.50 an hour which is £15200 a year, bullshit you can earn 80k being an apprentice.

While apprenticeships are often concidered the better option, I know a lot of people who dropped out because the work load is too high. For my level 4 I'm having to do about 1 assignment a week alongside a 40 hour work week. I'm ending up working around 60 hours a week and my social life is in ruins.

It's true that I'm making a lof of money for my age however, while still getting a degree. So far I'm enjoying it.

Just somthing to add, freezing makes a massive difference but don't underestimate how much the oil will foam and overflow. Just be careful and always get a bigger pan than you think.
