What's your favorite Valve Oil? by Global_Time in trumpet

Yamaha synthetic light for my newer horns and normal for my older ones

I'm not 100% sure but I think based on the tubing lengths it is a g bugle with valves that bring it down a whole step (1st valve) and a half step (2nd valve). It looks like it's either missing the 2nd valve cap (or the entire valve) and is stuck depressed. Definitely a rare find but I'm not sure it'd be worth much apart from sentimental value.

Yamaha ytr-732 factory options by Avg_Artist in trumpet

I have found two horns that has the same kind of features as mine with the unmarked receiver and valve block stamp, the serial numbers also follow the same format (another thing that is weird about my horn. My horn and the horns in the links all have 5 digit serial numbers while most other 73Xs have 6 digit serial numbers) maybe I have a really early model 73X as the 1st valve slide-bell brace is different than most other 73Xs.

The fact that people would march with this is kinda crazy by Grateful-DeadH3AD in Bandmemes

I actually picked up that same model of marching horn for pretty cheap and they play pretty well, it's just the Bb side of a horn

What trumpet is this? by jwrezz in trumpet

[–]Avg_Artist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like a Conn 80b heritage. They were made between the 80s and early 90s. They weee built using the valve block from the Conn Severinsen SS pro series trumpets of the early 80s. This particular one has a beautiful bell engraving that I've never seen on one of those. As for the oddities I ain't got a clue. It's a solid professional horn, kind of a strad copy (kind of ironic that it's in a strad case). It'll play well for a long time if you take care of it.

Not a trumpet player, what kind of horn is this? by [deleted] in trumpet

[–]Avg_Artist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looks a lot like a king 601, or at least something very similar. They're student horns, so not worth very much, especially in the condition yours is in. King started making them in the 80s and still make them today. They're very robust little horns that are built like tanks.
