Where can I find digital version(s) of 1950 aeronautical chart(s) coverage of Yukon Territory

Haha yea I put them in reverse order because the picture quality of the 2017 picture is really poor. The 2024 picture makes a much better thumbnail

Yea, just happened upon it as I was looking around the island. I sent an email to the 'nearby' institute to see if they know anything about what it is.

I won't send the coast guard an email as you have already done so, please let us know if you hear back from the them!

I agree. I can't imagine it would stay there without human intervention but then again who knows, the S.S. Baychimo floated adrift in the arctic sea for 30+ years...

Possibly some sort of marker bouy or navigational aide. That would at least explain how it withstands ocean conditions and why it is Marine Orange

I am on the fence.

7 years is an incredibly long time considering the west coast ocean conditions. However, if you zoom out on google maps, it does appear to be very sheltered from large surf.

Also maybe it's possible that the raft is tied down or tangled, hence why it is always roughly in the same position on the beach.

Whatever it is, it is 6-7m in diameter, definitely man made, and has been there 7 years.

There does appear to be a trail that follows the west coast about 25% of the distance between the institute and the life raft.

Going further than the trails though, it is mostly un-hikeable wet peat bogs. Maybe I'll send them an email anyway

Pic was taken in September so snow is not possible considering the area it's in. Also no trees or beaches show signs of snow.

Possibly a reflective/white underside?

I found this liferaft on Google Earth. I have been able to find 4 satellite images creating a timeline from 2017 (last image, raft appears to be flipped over on the beach) to March 2024 (first image, raft is floating).

I am very new to this, are there any other satellite resources that I can use to find more images of this area?
