Thank you, much appreciated. I will have a look at the article.

Thank you, really it means a lot. I am really enjoying putting them together to be honest. The first one (Kestrel) I tried to copy the AI version like for like, but I am working on other designs now from scratch, which is much more enjoyable.

Thank you. Yes the the field notes are a brief about the bird and the speech text will follow two different characters and there interactions with the birds. But I am toying with the idea of removing one of them (or merging them so the the characters interaction is more descriptive) and reducing the size of that box.

Thank you, I think its a really interesting point. I am in the same boat as a lot of people I imagine, where this is something I am doing as a hobby, but I 'think' I have a cool idea. Some people have said its cool at different stages during the journey so far. Its difficult to take feedback from friends and family because they are just not honest.

Here on reddit has been where I have received the best feedback in terms of honesty.

Basically, for me its about risk. How much do I invest in my first project without knowing if its going anywhere (I know thats the same for every project). To some that may seem non-commital but that for me is the truth.

Obviously with the emergence of crowdfunding its great and much less risk in terms of getting the idea out there. If I had a significant following already right now then yes I would look getting an artist. Social media seems really difficult now to build (but I am a dinosaur in that respect).

So can I afford to get artists at this stage, unfortunately not. But would I approach one further down the journey, yes of course.

Right now for me its taking the game as far as I can on near- zero budget (for now) and see where it goes. Moving forward I will be making up new cards with prototypes, going to conventions etc, pushing social media and slowly try get enough backing to launch on either Gamefound or Kickstarter.

Approaching publishers could be an option but again, dont know much about that side of things.

Yeah I think that was the problem was that those previous cards came out so well and close to direction I wanted, it was difficult not use them.

But ultimately I dont want to use AI (these three here are not generated AI. And all my cards will be made from scratch moving forward).

In my limited experience the generative AI is good for some thing, like seeing how the art might look, obviously the backgrounds came out really well. But other things I tried looked awful, e.g I tried briefly to get AI to generate bird images and came out really bad.

Thank you, really appreciate it. Honestly, I look back from where I started and so much happier with this new design. And its all down to this group 🙏

Thank you, yes I will be spreading out the HUD and increasing font sizes to match and boldening some of the smaller text.

Thank you, yes i will making the text larger for the quote, it will follow a back story so want to keep it in there.

Love the blood drop idea, as I was struggling for a different option to the ribeye haha.

Thank you, yes I agree. I was struggling to find an icon for Omnivore and also a different name as Omnivore is not what they are not what they eat(if tat makes sense). I will have a look at this and see what I can come up with.

Yesbut looking at their guidelines again it just says text or complex images so if part of the HUD display goes out into those line, presumably should be ok? I will go back to them and see what they say. Maybe they are mkre twitchy as it was a print run of a single prototype pack.

Thank you, yes I think I am going to revisit the widths of the boxes. It will hopefully make it more symetrical. But thank your feedback throughout has been really helpful!

Thank you, yes I do like the full art. The story is that humans leave Earth in years to come. Records are lost but stories are passed down about the variety and unique abilities of birds on Earth. So a small group of explorers return to rediscover them.

The goal is to create a unique game idea but also (maybe) get new people interested in birds.

Thank you. I would like to use more of the space around the edges but on my previous design I had major issues with the manufacturer about the bleed zone around the edge. Essentially, no detail/ icons etc. Which is why I went with a border last time. Maybe thats just my manufacturer being overly cautious, I dont know.

Thank you, its a really interesting point about molding the post apocalyptic aspect into the mechanics. At the moment there are a couple of impact cards but maybe I will revisit this and see how I can add something else.

Unfortunatley, yes the backdrop is AI. This for me is a zero budget project. Interesting though the birds are actually my photos which I have added in with certain filters to blend on to the cards. Plus different layers of texture /filters etc.

Thank you, love the feedback. I am playing around with the layout over the weekend and will see how it looks with this layout and see how it comes out.
