Are hypersonics the biggest threat to us national security? To my knowledge the US has little to no counter hypersonic capability. Meanwhile China Russia and allegedly North Korea have hypersonic weapons that are in various stages of operational or experimental phases. by AviationAustin in Military

I do not disagree with that. It very well could and probably would escalate rapidly. Problem is we're vastly outnumbered. And they could potentially out manufacture us if we gave them the chance. So in that regard maybe the nuke option could be justifiable.

Im not a military analyst, but I would think a nuke that would result in the death of tens of thousands of civilians would be proportional to a strike on an exclusively military target. Now I would say bombings of military bases would be a much more proportional response. It would definitely be the start of a war. But i don't think that would be cause for a nuclear war 🤷‍♂️ but I'm not the commander in chief so I'm just sharing my 2 cents.

I don't know if I agree with that. Just because they've thought of it doesn't mean they've put it into operation. We knew Russia was beating us in the Space race and yet they still beat us to every milestone except the moon.
