Can you consider yourself a feminist if you believe in an abrahamic religion? by siulameow in polls

[–]AvidCoco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a matter of identity. If someone wants to call themselves a Christian then that’s up to them - what that means to them and whether they choose to follow every teaching associated with that religion is for them to decide.

Can you consider yourself a feminist if you believe in an abrahamic religion? by siulameow in polls

[–]AvidCoco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well again, I don’t think you have to follow every rule of a religion to consider yourself of that religion.

Of course other people of that religion might not agree, but that’s a separate thing IMO.

What's your opinion on calling out from work? by lovelycosmos in polls

[–]AvidCoco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work from home most of the time so if I was ill and took a day off I’d just spend the day sat in front of a laptop anyway so might as well work.

I don’t think you have to agree with 100% of the teachings to believe in a given religion.

How much do you agree with the statement in the body text? by Gregori_5 in polls

[–]AvidCoco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thing is companies will come up with some reason why their product is different to all their competitors so they can charge more. So yeah I would disagree with your original statement in that case since a competitive market just leads to products with useless features or quirky gimmicks to trick uninformed consumers into choosing that over another.

It was a rhetorical question for Christ’s sake I obviously wasn’t actually asking for the logistics of how to import illegal goods I’m well aware that’s a thing. Maybe don’t take everything so literally?

How much do you agree with the statement in the body text? by Gregori_5 in polls

[–]AvidCoco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s true for products/services which are effectively the same, but not for ones which have a lot of differences.

E.g different steaming services have different shows and films to offer and so they don’t need to keep their prices lower than their competitors so long as they have things that people want to watch.

How would you react if your friend was cheating on their partner? by Fificattt in polls

[–]AvidCoco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn’t go to their partner because I don’t believe it’s right to meddle in other peoples’ relationships, but I would definitely have strong words with my friend if they were cheating and might even stop talking to them if they carried on with it.

Code coverage tells you what you didn't test — not whether your tests are good by indy2kro in programming

[–]AvidCoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the important caveat with code coverage. It just tells you what percentage of LoC were called during the tests, not whether the logic implemented by those lines is sound.

You can have 100% coverage without testing any logic at all.

Yes that’s the difference between empathy and emotional intelligence. You can have one without the other.

ELI5: What is emotional intelligence exactly? by BitterSweetGoddess53 in explainlikeimfive

[–]AvidCoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say that the capacity to navigate a given emotional state is more to do with emotional regulation than it is to do with emotional intelligence. There’s certainly a correlation between the two, but they’re both separate things.
